Watery Wednesday: Night Reflections

Driving around looking at Christmas lights has always been a favorite activity for me. We used to take our kids through the best neighborhoods each year. This year after Thanksgiving our local park has a drive-through lighting event. We took our daughter and two granddaughters to see the lights. It was thirty degrees outside and we froze rolling the windows down to see and take pictures but it was fun anyway.
The above shot was taken by my daughter from the backseat. I love how the reflected light looks like a Christmas tree.
This is a shot I took with my long lens of that side of the lake. I think that lighted police car looks like it really is patroling.
Not very Christmasy but what's a lake without its own Nessie! This shot was taken by my daughter.
A couple of closeup shots of the lights you see across the lake. The park had a display for each of the ten days of Christmas. Above is nine ladies dancing! Traffic was heavy so these are a little more blurred than I would have liked but that's hard in a moving car.
Ten lords leaping! I couldn't get all of them in the shot from the car window. I was NOT getting out in the thirty degree cold.
Of course where there's lights there is always the fun of lights and motion. Can you tell which lights I used for the experiment? This was Nessie!

What an amazing Christmas reflections! They are so beautiful and so festive. I am not sure that I would be able to photograph so wonderfully in the night.

Beautiful and fascinating night photography! I have to learn how to do this.

Great night shots. I love the one looking like a Christmas Tree and the moving Nessie.
I had to laugh that you wouldn't get out of the car in 30 degree weather. It was 28 degrees when I photographed all my snow pictures. I have to admit my hands did get cold though. :0)

Oh, now you've given me a good idea, Carletta. Was going to get some night shots of lights and decorations, but now must think of a watery place as well. Water and lights just make magic.

Oh, your daughter has an eye for a good picture, just like you! Aren't you proud of her? How old is she? We have a place similar to this that we can drive through, but have not done so this year YET. We might still. My camera isn't a high dollar camera though, so my pictures won't be as wonderful as yours!

Nice display- I really miss driving around to look at the lights. It seems hardly anyone decorates outside anymore.

Love Christmas lights. Before our daughter and family moved to another town, they had a farm family that went all out each year. Ton's and ton's of lights and animated displays. Took them to see it every year. Loved it, missed it. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Great shots of the lights and a fun one too. I don't blame you for not getting out of the car. Next time try going a little earlier, like 10 mins before the light fades to black and you get a whole different type of interesting photos.

We used to take rides around town looking at the lights, too, but in all my years, I've never seen a Christmas lights water display! WoW! Lovin all the lights reflected in the water

Thank you, Carletta =)

How fun! I love stuff like that. You (and your daughter) took some great light shots -- not easy to do. I like the post-modern Nessie there at the bottom.
