Incredible birds. Apparently in the Great Rift area of Kenya and Tanzania, the sky goes pink when they take to the sky. Thousands of them, what a sight to see?
I thought we had them also in Australia, but can't find any reference for them???
Some Aussie viewer may know, but I thought they were in the Lake Eyre area and in the northern regions.
Great shots from the Columbus Zoo.
Cheers

Great close-up! I manage to take some photos of these lovely birds when I was in Marocco, - and later on in Tanzania. (Ngorongoro)
A perfect WBW-post!

In that head shot the flamingo has a definite attitude but not sure what he/she is saying?

It's always neat to see exotic animals. What a pretty pink flamingo. Such an interesting beak.

Your Rose of Sharon is beautiful!

Awesome face on that dude! Well done. It gives people like us to see something close up where we see all the detail.

Sallie (FullTime-Life) said...

Oh wow -- they really are just crazy beautiful. There are supposed to be a few wild ones in Florida, but we've never seen them (as we haven't seen a majority of the State actually)...maybe someday.

Hello Carletta,

Great shots of the Flamingo. They are beautiful birds.

Beautiful birds.

Colin said...

Hi Carletta
I have been informed by people who know that flamingos are not native to Australia. The big flocks of birds in the wetlands of Lake Eyre are pelicans.
Where HansHB saw the flamingos at (Ngorongoro) Tanzania, is where my sister recently saw them.
Obviously a place to put on any "Must visit bucket List".
Cheers

Hi there - what a great (and strange!) bird - I wish that Colin from Brisbane was correct - but we don't get them in Australia! But it's a good reason to visit Africa!

thanks for the visit to WBW - Stewart M

Such a lovely bird. If only those plastic yard art pieces could be at least half as lovely.
