A Tale of Two Squirrels

This is the tale of two squirrels. One little squirrel liked to sit in the bright sunshine and search for cracked corn in the green grass. He searched fervently until he had some morsels between his little paws and gave the thumbs up sign to his playmate.
His little playmate prefers to lay flat out in the nearby shade.
Mr. Bright Eyes paused often to pose for the camera lady.
Not feeling threatened he continuesd to search for morsels. Flatty just laid in the shade.

*Note: You may have been surprised when you opened my blog today. I've decided after almost five years that it's time to redecorate. There is still some housekeeping to do. In the meantime I hope you enjoy the larger photo format.

The new format is very nice - in look and navigation. A great redesign! I like squirrels, these guys just cute enough to demand to be captured...I like that pair that straddle the light and shade - perhaps symbolic of the yin and yang of life itself. Cute and artistic!

Hi Carletta
Well curiousity got the best of me, it always does.
Squirrels were introduced into Australia - the American Grey Squirrel. Into the Melbourne and Perth areas in early settlement here. They apparently never adapted and are now extinct, fodder for big "Joe Blakes", feral pigs or dingoes??, except for those in zoos. However, I am sure, I have seen them running wild at Taronga Park Zoo, Sydney, last visited in the early 1960's running all over the place.
Hopefully some Aussie viewer might have a better update? C'mon!!!!
There are certainly no squirrels in Brisbane.
Anyhow I think they look cute, even if not appreciated in the gardens of my friends place in TN!
They obviously are a bit of a pest - ha ha!
Cheers
Colin

So sweet, I've always thought that squirrels are busy creatures and never expected them relax, let alone lay flat!

My 91-year-old mother hates these guys because they steal food from the bird feeders, but I think they're adorable and smart. And they are sooooo entertaining! So I say let 'em steal whatever they want.

flatty is on a diet? I have not seen a skinny squirrel, not that I have seen many, there are none here in New Zealand.
