It was pretty neat being this close. I did take a couple of more shots as it got higher but the drab gray day and flat sky all but washed out the helicopter. However, the next evening gave way to lovely pastel colored skies!

glad the careflight wasn't needed at that moment. the sky is gorgeous.
Oh neat (especially since it was just practice). For a minute I thought you meant that last picture WAS the drab gray sky and I thought 'she needs to come to Oregon in the winter to really see drab gray sky'. (Of course then I read the caption below and I agree that is an absolutely lovely pastel sky!)
Without these aircraft the World would be a lot less safer. Thankfully there are many here in Australia for emergency services.
On the news this morning one plucked 5 fishermen from the sea just north of Sydney. The fishermen were terrified having been in the sea for about 2 hours until found. It was shark infested! With all the flooding presently in Australia - more area is under water than the whole of France! They are being used to airlift stranded people from homesteads and to spot trapped cattle and sheep so as if possible they can be rescued.
Here besides government funding they rely on donations for upkeep.
I believe if any cause deserved a donation, then these emergency helicopter organisations/services are top of the list!

Hi Carletta ~~ I like your blue helicopter pictures. Do the helicopters wake your mom up at night?
Your sky is pretty too. But not enough to make me want to go back to SkyWatch yet. Later on, perhaps.
Happy MidWeek Blues,
..
Helicopters kind of scare me! I would take a photo but I sure don't want to ride in one. The sky is lovely.
the next day's sky is amazing!!
all those layers of light and color and drama
That sky picture is gorgeous.
Great pictures, Carletta. You were in the right place at the right time. We have a hospital service near here which offers helicopter rides to the hospital in an emergency situation. Our hospital is about 10 miles from here. Great service--but I hope we never need it...
Hugs,
Betsy
I LOVE IT!!!
Great shots!

Beautiful colours in the third photo! I'm so glad the helicopter was only practicing. :)
That last shot is just breathtaking!
Glad they were just practicing! I love the beautiful sky photo too.
Great shots of the helicopter and I love the pastel sky at the end.
Great pastel colours, and nice capture of the heliocopter. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
A great sky picture!
I wish you a Happy Friday!
Great shots of the helicopter! And what a gorgeous capture of your beautiful skies! I do love your composition with the bare trees silhouetted against those lovely pastel skies! Hope you have a wonderful weekend and thank you for your kinds words regarding my daughter!

Regards and best wishes
Lucky you! I love the last shot!
Skyshot, have a great weekend ahead.
Hi Carletta. I like your helicopter photos. Your pastel colored sky is gorgeous and the trees add to it.
Great series, Carletta. I get a knot in my stomach even seeing the medivac. My son was transported when he broke his leg and foot sledding years ago.
I love that sky in the last shot! It is just absolutely gorgeous.
That last scene is beautifully framed Carletta. Thanks for sharing.
You have captured it beautifully. Very nice.
What beautiful tones in the bottom photo...and the silhouettes accent the loveliness of the sunset.
nice shots. You got the helicopter from the right angle. I liked to see the design of the tail. With that rotor. I think it is a stabilizer. :)
Hm I wonder if this brings out a smile. Not my day of typing today. :)
One Gorgeous Sky!
Lovely shots - especially the last one.
Beautiful sky in that last shot- glad there was no emergency.
Fortunately it only was practicing !
Love the sky in the last picture !
I thought something is going on. But the photos are amazing, thanks for sharing!
