Barn or Hangar

This is another barn from our weekend trip in early October. It was across the road from the barn I posted with the ad on it. It sat in a huge field - no cattle or horses could be seen. There was a long stretch of bottom land on both ends. Look closely and you can see to the back of the barn an aviation windsock. Everything we saw led us to believe this was a short airstrip. We passed this barn both ways and could not see behind it. It would have been nice to know if a small plane or helicopter was parked behind.
Enlarge the image to see the windsock, the lightning rods and the lovely fall foliage.

This is a great shot...I bet they have one of those ulta light planes...you know the kind that looks like parachute material stretched over the wings...I almost think some of the wings fold somehow.

This is a beautiful barn! The setting is gorgeous as well. I love the thought that it's used for an aircraft.

This is such a great shot... not only the barn, but the fall colors behind it are incredible!

How lovely. If it is a hangar I love that they've worked it to fit in with the landscape so beautifully. Great catch Carletta!

It just looks like it has been painted into the scenery.

You find the nicest barns! I like this building sitting on a rare piece of level land, and the foliage rising up the steep mount is a perfect accent. Almost heaven indeed in this view!

I'll have to look back on my photos from last year to see if I took pictures of this barn too! This is beautiful.

I'm thinking there is no other reason to have a windsock. Right?

The landscape is just stunning, isn't it? Beautiful.

Just beautiful with the fall leaves behind a white barn! I could not find anything like that this fall. I also love the photo in your header. Happy Holidays!

A wonderful barn to see.. it would have been converted in a house by now in the UK.. and a luxury house at that.

A fine, very large barn and silo. It makes a fine Barn Charm shot. The windsock certainly suggests an airplane nearby.

I don't often see white barns and the red roof is pretty neat too. Beautiful fall trees, too.

Another gorgeous barn, Carletta... It's in good shape... Bet that land is used as a air strip also...

Love the Fall colors.

We have a family living close by who has a large field out from their barns which is used for 5 little 2 seater planes. This may be more commonplace that we thought. Nice windows across the side and on the end. It really is a pretty one. It and the silo look to be in good shape. genie

I'm sure it was a barn to start with :-) Instead of a red barn...a red roof..I like it :-)

I agree that this barn is most likely on an airstrip. Whether it is a hanger or not I cannot say, but it certainly is in a beautiful setting
