Barn Charm

This little white barn was another barn I spotted on my weekend trip back in October. It is badly in need of some roof repair. I like how it is nestled there below the mountain. A view from the front shows it is storing round hay bales. If you look closely you will see a railroad track running directly in front. I took these somewhere close to Cranberry Glades, West Virginia.

I always feel sort of sad when I see a barn so run down. When I was a kid (I know...a long, long time ago) we had a lot of fun in barns.

Are you sure you didn’t slip across the state line and snap this picture here in Rockbridge County. We have LOTS that look like this...hanging on for dear life against the odds. I think it is pretty darn cute. Not too big, not too little, just right. genie

It's very pretty, I do hope they fix the roof and not let it run down any more.

I'm glad to see that it is still used. The little white barn at the foot of the hill doesn't want to be forgotten.

What a fine barn. I like its white color and as you said how it fits into the landscape around it. Nice post, Carlietta.

Love your little white barn! The view from the front gives it some darling barn charm. I can see them hoisting square bales up to the hayloft back in the day!

I hope they fix the roof! What a shame, especially since the barn is still in use.

Well, I think we missed this barn on our W. VA trip last year!! It's really a cute one.

Thanks for your comment today - by the way, drop me a note at dianna(at)thesedaysofmine(dot)com and let me know where you used to live near here!

It's a sad looking barn but it's so white! Thanks for visiting me and leaving a comment. I'm glad you liked the school house too.

Oh, Carletta, it is cute...does it bring that adjective to mind when you see it? I think this is a first for me thinking of a barn as cute, but I just love it for some reason.

That is a very charming barn, but it does desperately need some TLC. I'm surprised the hay doesn't get wet during storms.

I love those big doors - I can't believe how close the railroad was built to it though. The farmer must have been so upset. Roads and railroads divided up many farms, many with the house on one side and the barns on another.
