A few weeks ago I was taking photos at my Moms and laid my lens cap on the porch railing. When I returned to retrieve it this little soldier bug grabbed my attention. I'm not sure if he was standing there singing Me and My Shadow or shadowboxing with himself. This small little critter and his shadow made me smile. I hope he brings a smile to you too!

Great capture of the shadow bug and his shadow! He's a pretty shade of yellow.
I could see him Shadow Dancing!
fun stuff at your moms!
He has a nice pose for you too! :-) A fine shadow shot with nice detail and color. Well done.
Great macro photo ~ and I am smiling ^_^ ~ thanks, namaste, Carol (A Creative Harbor) linked to CC ^_^
The shadow is cool and the bug has a nice color too.
What a delightful shot!
I love it!! A delightful, colorful shot indeed and I do think I hear him singing! Such fun! Thanks for the smile to start my day, Carletta! Hope you have a great weekend!

Whatever he may have been singing, I doubt I could have heard his teensy weensy voice!
SHADOW SHOW
Shadows creeping through the land,
Shadows dark on every hand—
If they should begin to glow,
You had better run, you know!

Shadows here and here
Cool looking insect and a neat shadow shot! Great capture, Carletta. Have a great weekend!
He certainly looks lethal with his wasp/hornet yellow and black colors. He does seem enthralled with his shadow - I wonder which one won that fight??
I would say he was riveted by his elegant shadow!!!
This is a thought provoking Shadow Shot. I NeVeR even thought[until now] that a bug could be enjoying his own shadow!! Have a great weekend.
Fun shot! Glad you noticed it!
Great shadow and the post definitely makes me smile! -- that's a new bug for me, or at least the name (he looks sort of familiar).
It did indeed make me smile. He seems to be having a conversation with his dark little friend.
It did make me smile. Great shot
very delicate and effective...
Like your soldier bug. Have never heard of them before, but this one is a very nice specimen. Like the contrast of his small body with the larger black lens cap. It makes for a great shot. genie
I think he's singing his own kind of music and dancing his own shadow dance! A cute capture!
Fun post, Carletta. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Shadow dancing, for sure!
Cute.
Great critter and shadow shot! I don't know this bug!!!

I think he might be trying to decide if it's another bug. That is a great shot Carletta.
