The barn is in excellent shape for the age it appears to be. I wish I had thought to take a closeup of the lightning rods on top. If you enlarge the image you should be able to see them better. I just love these with the old ceramic balls on them.
I found a photo I took with my old point and shoot about three years ago of the same barn. Sure wish someone would cut away all the growth. The brick foundation is worth being able to see.
Both kids and their families are fine and were spared most of Irene's wrath. Our daughter is still without electricity having lost it before noon on Saturday. Her neighborhood is on the list to be back online by six 0'clock this evening. We're crossing our fingers.
Posting for Tricia's Barn Charm.

Very nice Barn, Carletta.. It does look like it's in great shape.
Hope Mother Nature gives us some calmer days now.... Glad you are all safe!
Hugs,
Betsy
Oh, Carletta, to have that wonderful foundation and to just let it grow up. I always wonder...usually assume that people have more than they can do and just don't have time. But it is such a glorious barn it deserves to be taken care of.
Glad everyone is okay from Irene. What a wonderful old barn. Great pictures.
Glad you survived the storm. I like this barn....I, too, am in love with old barns and am on constant look out for them as I drive along!
I love being able to see the foundation!
We felt the earthquake too and then had Irene come in (downgraded to a tropical storm)...lots of flooding but little wind damage...the power was out for about 9 hours here...so happy we decided to get a generator!
Nice barn, I love shape of it...and...I'm glad to hear that you're all fine.
Carletta, I'm glad you're safe after the earthquake AND the hurricane! The east coast is getting socked.
But your country adventure made up for it...love your barn pics!
There really is quite a lot of growth there now. Maybe the barn is no longer being used.
I hope your daughter has power now!
What a beauty! I love the shape. I agree that it would be nice if the growth was cut away.
I hope your daughter's electricity got back when it was expected. I'm glad your family came through Irene safe and sound.
I really like this barn.
Glad everyone's safe, it must be terrifying waiting for a hurricane to strike. I hope your daughter's electricity is back by now.
Love the barn photos, Carletta, and I agree with you about the brick foundations.
Love your photo finds Carletta and it is a shame to have the barn not kept up.
Happy your family is okay. It was quite a week wasn't it? Nice peaceful photos to calm the jitters!
Carletta, YaY You're back! =)
Excellent to hear your daughter is ok, electricity or not, she's good! Thank GOD
The barn is beautiful & I love the stone foundation & looks like a pretty good size barn, too... as I always say, I'd love to explore it
Have a great week & thanks so much for joining in & linking up to Barn Charm

Very nice Carletta....I like the lightening rods also.
Wow! That is one very big barn! So beautiful! It makes me wonder about all the different designs for barns compared to the different designs for homes. I almost think there are more different barn designs than there are of home designs.
Have a Wonderful Week!

I'm glad things have settled down for you a little-I agree the barn looks better with the growth trimmed.
It looks like it's being swallowed up somewhat by the growth--that's sad, but it still looks in wonderful shape and certainly is a beauty! The lightening rods are cool too!
Great barn shots.
I'm glad that everyone made it through the hurricane unscathed. Aren't earthquakes interesting? I have a friend who lives in PA and she was totally unnerved having never felt one before. We feel them more often than we'd like here in Oregon.

A lovely old barn! That was my first earthquake and I will admit that I found it a bit unnerving. The dishes rattled, the wood creaked...my first thought was sink hole. I think I lived in Florida too long.
I know I told you last week that I was planning to sit down and read your blog. Well, I finally made it! Can't tell you how much I'm enjoying it. :) I feel like I'm catching up with an old (as in: long-time) friend. Hope you're having a good evening!
