Ruby Tuesday with Barn Charm

I saw this little barn from the interstate the first year we moved back to West Virginia. It sits down in a little valley and unless you know it's there you don't see it. We've passed it many times but never remember exactly where it is in order to stop. A couple of weeks ago while driving the route that goes by it I grabbed my camera and told Hubs to slow down that I thought I knew where it was and I was right. He pulled to the side of the rode and I shot down the hillside with my zoom lens to capture this little beauty.
I'm not sure what it is used for but I suspect collectables going by the many signs I can see on the left wall. You can hardly see it but there's a rooster weathervane on top and the exhaust pipe of a stove. The fence you see in the back surrounds the yard of the nearby house.
I love it's charming whatever it is used for. Of course, the quilt block is a big bonus. What I like about this quilt block is that it is actually painted on the barn and not a piece of wood painted and tacked on.

At first glance, I thought this was a doghouse that someone had created to look like a barn with a quilt block on it! What a neat find, Carletta!

P.S. I'll never use anything other than lava rock or pea gravel for mulch again. I've had that lava rock for about 4 years now, and never once has it up and floated away...or composted into dirt. ;)

Good memory--and good you had your camera along!

DID SOMEONE MENTION SCARLET?

Did someone mention scarlet
Or was it red I heard?
Perhaps it was a varlet
Or a vermilion bird
That shouted out the color
That’s dearest to my heart.
(It makes me feel much duller
If red is not a part.)

The paint is so well applied, I can almost imagine a woven quilt on the doors. The building may be small, but the barn shape and artistry make this a great one to photograph. Nice!

This is a great find...glad you got to finally take a picture of it. I like it that the quilt block is actually painted on, also.

This is another quilt barn, but this one is so sweet, small, and appealing. I am wondering what is inside. It is beautifully kept. Precious.

This is a wonderful "find" to stop and shoot. I'm glad you remembered where it was located so you could get this shot. It's quite attractive with its coloring and that block. Very nice post.

This is a great find, Carletta! I love the quilt block and the weather vane. I almost missed the little red birdhouse on the fence post. :)

Those quilt colors are olding up and look quite vibrant against the fading white. Someone takes pride in them.
