Project 64: Out of the Box - Apricot

I searched all week for the color apricot for this week's Project 64: Out of the Box. The challenge is a 64 week journey through a box of crayons one color at a time. I wasn't finding anything and decided to visit the big name hardware store with my hubby and check out the paint samples you see below. I had resigned myself that they would somehow be my entry this week. It wasn't until I sat down at the kitchen table to plan the photo that I noticed this little piggy and knew he would be my entry this week. He sits on top of one of my blocks that spell out welcome across my dining room table. The color was, hmmm....right under my nose!
This would have been the boring shot if I hadn't noticed Mr. Piggy. Walking into the hardware store filled with displays of paint swatches I was sure I would just walk up and find apricot. I was so wrong. Instead I found Island Shores, Sweet Mimosa, and Creamsicle. Not as harsh sounding as Apricot. Lovely names don't you think? They make me want to take a vacation somewhere warm!

Orange piggy wins. Paint colour names are difficult to remember and when you want to patch up a spot later you can never remember the colour name.

Hi Carletta, That piggy is perfect for your "Apricot" color today... Isn't it a little silly to think of all of the fancy names they give paint these days??? It's hard to remember the name when I want some more of the same color...

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

I think you came up with a perfect apricot post. I look forward to seeing more of your Project 64 posts.

That's an interesting challenge Carletta. Your piggy bank is a cutie~ Paint color names are just weird -- I wonder who has the job of naming them and I wonder what the psychology behind them is. I dunno' -- I might just be more tempted to buy one called Apricot rather than Cremesicle, but since I never pain I'm obviously not their target audience.

I actually like both photos...

P.S.--don't some of the paint names just make you want to start painting?

I really love the pig! I used to collect little piggies a long time ago. His color is perfect!

Mr. pig works great! Funny how the color sometimes hides right under our noses! Thank's for linking up with Project64!

I especially like the piggie because he's rustic. Sometimes we've looked at things for so long that we quit noticing them.

Isn't it funny that what we're looking for is often right under our noses all the time? Hiding.
Nice music choice for today.

A perfect subject for this week! I'd like to name paint chips. It would be fun to pull crazy names out of thin air. :)
