Midweek Blues

If any of you have ever read my profile over there in my sidebar you know I make beaded jewelry. I thought today I would show a piece while highlighting a blue and white cup and saucer that I acquired years ago from my mother-in-law. She frequented many yard sales and had a small garage full of her 'treasures.' On one visit we explored the filled boxes and tables and I found this cup and saucer. It has a small chip on the rim of the cup but since I wasn't concerned about selling value I didn't mind.
I grew up with a few pieces of blue and white china at home which mostly sat in the kitchen cabinet. When I married my Mom passed a few plates down and some other finds when she and Dad would come across them at estate sales.
Two birds flying high,
A Chinese vessel sailing by.
A bridge with three men, sometimes four,
A willow tree, hanging o'er.
A Chinese temple, there it stands,
Built upon the river sands
An apple tree with apples on
A crooked fence to end my song.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~Wikipedia
The worn mark.
Inside the cup an image of a temple.
The bracelet: sterling silver with a combination of blue glass beads and silver Bali beads with a silver butterfly charm.
I do love blue and white china...and what a great way to showcase your jewelry. I have a friend who makes beaded jewelry very much like yours. It is just gorgeous.
Your bead work is very nice, Carletta. I also like the blue china you've collected over time.
Hi Carletta, I love your jewelry... So pretty!!!! AND the blue cup and saucer are gorgeous... There used to be a restaurant in FL where we would go on occasion. Its name was the Blue Plate Restaurant--and they had blue and white plates and cups and saucers hanging all over that restaurant... SO PRETTY.
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy
