Look who showed up in my yard one morning last week giving me some live yard art to share with you. We've lived here in the country almost three years now and this was our first glimpse of raccoons. It had been a foggy morning and luckily the corn left for the neighborhood turkeys kept these little guys eating until the sun could peek through the clouds long enough for me to get a fairly good picture of them through the sunroom window. They had their feast and scurried off into the woods. We haven't seen them since; but it was an encounter I was happy to have experienced.

the live ones are cuter but the fakes are less trouble. great pictures today.
They sure are cute. Raccoons make nice subjects for pictures, especially young raccoons like these two, but other than that, I try to avoid them.
In the thumbnail, I thought your mom's yard art was cats....and I would have liked them...but the raccoons are adorable!
Those are just beautiful my friend. I love them and those two that visited...how cool. You always seem to be right there to capture such exquisite shots. Love it :)
Great post. I'd rather see the live ones too (in your yard, not mine ;>)....They're really cute, but can be a pain if they become regulars -- speaking from long-ago experience when we still had our home in Oregon.
Love your Mom's little welcoming raccoons. AND--about your 'live' ones, I'm sure that they are around. BUT--they are usually only out at nights... Those two wanted to finish their 'dinner' before heading for their hiding place...

Love your mom's racoons and you've got the real thing! :) thanks for posting for Yard Art on Thursdays! :)
I very much like your mother's raccoons! The real ones are very cute...as long as they stay out of MY trash. :)
What fun to have the yard art and the real thing! The little guys on the stairs are great...
Those raccoons have such adorable little faces! A little bit of beautiful whimsy in the garden!
Discovered your blog and fell in love with your photography! I have a friend that tucks little raccoons in funny places (like her fridge) and shoots photos of them for her blog, so I loved your raccoon pics today. I really enjoy the photos of your artistic journey...and wish you well with your knee recovery (I'm 5 weeks out from a total knee replacement today). What an enjoyable blog I plan to visit over and over. Billie
Love your mom's cute yard art raccoons. The real ones scare me, to tell the truth.
I'm afraid they will bite a family pet, or a little child.
Happy Thursday, Carletta!
I'm surprised you haven't seen the real raccoons up until now. Great capture, and what a coincidence, too!
Your mom's statues are so cute!
I like your mom's little raccoons a lot!!
And your REAL ones too!!
I recently had a real one on my back porch, late at night- a few times, in fact. I was unable to get pictures, tho!
I have a post up this time!!

They are cute little critters! We get them here and we don't live in the country! Now and then we hear some scratching on our roof and know exactly what it is...they climb our tree and hop right on the roof at night, but, not for quite some time now. They live in the storm drains of our neighborhoods.
Wow three years before you saw any raccoons!! Our here where we live they can be a real problem. Glad you had a happy experience with them! I like the yard statues, very cute! Great shots =)
