A couple of weeks ago Hubs and I were returning home from a trip to nearby Ohio when I spotted this quilt barn (so-called for the quilt patch that decorates the side of the barn) across four lanes of traffic. When I shouted quilt barn he knew he needed to find a safe place to pull over and bless his heart he did. Since we were in the state of Ohio it was quite appropriate that the quilt block is called 'Ohio Star.'
I've included the original image as well so you can see the weathered patina and rusting tin roof.
(Don't forget you can enlarge to see greater detail.)

Lovely. You made me laugh with the words, "I shouted "quilt barn and..."
Both of these pictures are wonderful. I like the way you left the quilt patch in color in your sepia photo.
Great one! I like that you included the original. Thank goodness for Hubs. :)
Now THAT's a good photographer's spouse :).
Great catch Carletta. It's a terrific old barn.
Thanks for saying what a quilt barn is. Fantastic photos :)
Husbands that stop so we can take pictures are the best of hubbies.
Wordless Wednesday
love how u leave that blue cross untouched. sepia made it glowing! :)
u may view mine if u have time
The sepia warms the washed out wood, adding life to this old barn. A subtle capture of the past!
PS: I have an award for you at my blog - stop on by!
This is just SO pretty, I love the colour of the quilt against the sepia background/ barn.
What exactly is a quilt barn? Or should I look it up on Wiki?
that is so homey looking. Is the quilt fabric or paint?
I really like the way that you processed the barn with the sepia, but left the quilt in color. This is such a pretty barn!
I don't think I've ever seen a quilt barn, but I'll keep an eye out on long drives. I love Ohio for that reason... lovely rural areas. Haven't been there in a long time.
Cool old barn. I like how you kept the quilt in color as you sepia-fied the photo.
Nice of hubs to pull over so you could take a picture.
Happy Sepia Scenes ~
Both are great, but I don't understand about the quilts on the barns? I've seen it once before, actually I think it was a pic on your blog a long time ago, but I didn't understand it then, either.
Would you have your hubby talk to Amoeba, please? "Pull over" are not words he seems to comprehend.
Lovely barn. I am glad you got to capture your photo.
A wonderful find and a great hubby that responds to "pull over", mine does that too!
I love both versions.
A "quilt barn"! I learn something everyday in blogland. Sepia scene is very nice.
Beautiful photos. Thanks for visiting the 'digest.' I most certainly appreciate the encouragement. Quilt barn...must be a buckeye thing...
r.
Oh hard to pic a favorit. The pic looks totally different with or without sepia shading. Love the old rustic feeling of the barn! Lovely!
Very cool pics. Are quilt barns limited to Ohio? I've never seen one but would love to.
Beautiful sepia effect!
WOW how cool is that! I love the sepia photo...
Great job - love how that quilt pops against the sepia!!
Nice picture in sepia!
Oh how fun! I can honestly say that I have never seen a quilt barn. But how cute is it?! You are lucky to have such a husband that just instantly knows that he needs to stop for a picture. My husband just tells me to shoot from the road.
If you'd like to stop by my blog I'm at Cake Crumbs.
How nice for you that your Hubs did this for you! Mine has done it a time or two for me also.
Carletta: I've never seen one of these.
This is fantastic in Sepia!
Love this old house. Beautiful in sepia.
Both images are wonderful ... hard to choose a fav, but methinks I prefer the original this time.
Hugs and blessings,
