Noticing The Little Things

After participating for a few weeks in Michelle's Nature Notes Meme I find I look forward to taking a walk in my yard and really looking around to see what's new. The flowers, especially the daylilies, continue to bloom and my Rose of Sharon bushes are showing signs of color at last. The ferns at the size of the house are almost waist high and the grass no sooner gets cut than it needs cut again. All of these are easily noticeable. It's the little things I'm noticing more and more. With camera in hand I've been looking closer and closer at what's around me. I love my camera and the macro abilities to see the unseen. Things I never really noticed take on a whole new meaning.
The collage above is made up of some of those little things I found this week. The wisteria vines are filling with new soft green velvety pods. The yucca blooms are long gone and have been replaced with seed pods. I noticed some were green and some purplish. While looking at the yucca I saw lovely red markings on the stems. Who knew!
I walked by my Tiger Grass that stands way above my head. The pale yellow and green stripes thrust themselves toward the blue sky.
While strolling around the yard I also found bees, moths, deer, rabbits and turkeys. Nature is certainly thriving here at Round The Bend!
What are you waiting for? Come on, get up, get out and see what you can find in your own backyard.

You should own your own nursery. This is just beautiful. And what you find is just tremendous. Aloha my friend

It is amazing when enlarged. the little things are the ones that matter, slowing down to see them is the a wonderful exercise. :)

Wonderful collage of the little things in your yard Carletta. I know what you mean too. I'm been noticing a lot more since I started doing nature notes.

The things we see when we take a tour in the garden with a camera are just amazing. You make me grab my camera to take some pictures, it has been raining all day here and I want to go out a bit now! Have a great day Carletta!

I know exactly what you mean! The more I narrow my camera's focus, the more I see! How many details of my life have passed me by because I did not look closely enough? Hmmmm ....

This is what I was hoping for with Nature Notes..You reminded me that now that things are more quiet here, I need to get out and get to know my yard again and look for the small things. You made a beautiful collage Carletta..Thank you for adding it to Nature Notes...Michelle

I need flowers that bloom now...some how or other, all I have blooming right now are hostas. And even those are coming to an end.

Beautiful collage. It really is amazing how much there is to see when you really start looking. I love my camera took, though I wish I had even more zoom and pixels. Greedy me. I'm glad to read you have lots of bees. I'm greatly distressed that there have been hardly any bees here this year and as far as I can tell no bumble bees. I think the ones I've seen are carpenter bees. We are having a strange Spring in the Northeast. Very cool. But I ramble. As always, I love your words and photos and your vision of the world around you.

You have a nice little spot in the blogosphere here! I enoyed the tour of your yard, the playground post, sepia toned memories. I found my way over from Kaye's place - you should make those beaded bookmarks - and you should market them as book bling :0)

Caletta, that is absolutely beautiful.
I should have also included my friend Carletta in my blog when I mentioned snow. I'm sorry about that!

Beautiful set of photos you have there. It is indeed amazing what you see when you look closely. And sometimes, the smallest details come as a surprise when the photo is uploaded to the computer.

Just lovely, Carletta! And yes, you really should enlarge it to appreciate all those little details you mentioned. I especially love that tiger grass!

How delightful is your mosaic and your point of view. I've only done Nature Notes a handful of times but perhaps I'll give it a go again soon.
Hugs and blessings,
