The Sun and The Moon

Sepia Scenes is at Carletta's Captures.

It was a cold wintry day a week ago Sunday when I returned home from getting the newspaper. The sun was up there in the sky sending down rays to earth wanting desperately to pop through the clouds. For a few moments it did; but it looked more like a nighttime moon!
(enlarge for detail)
Just the night before the moon itself was but a sliver in the sky.

Great views Carletta
I saw just the same moon view... I was stood at the back door a few days ago and looked up at the night sky, a single plane was passing over head very high up.. just the flashing tail and wing light could be made out. I then noticed the moon and did wonder if any other Sky Watchers would be doing to... it might not of been at the same time or day... but the thoughts nice anyway..
All the very best to you and yours.... I'm going to go and check out your other blog now.

Awesome stuff, Carletta! Lovely shots, love your crespuscular rays and your crescent moon. I noticed that moon this past cycle, and couldn't get motivated enough to set up the tripod.

The weather is so tumultuous this time of year. We want the sun. It wants to come, but winter wants a last blast! Love the moon shot.

These are indeed eerie. I really enjoyed the perspective and dark nuances. Are you sure they were not taken at Halloween? Did you see the crescent moon and Venus last Friday? They were about a degree or two apart.

I paused in my backyard staring up at the sliver of moon and wondered if I was the last person awake to view it. Our neighborhood certainly was dark and quiet. I should have been snug in my bed, but that nasty blowing wind sent me scurrying out to check my peppers and tomatoes.

The skies look threatening, but at the same time beautiful!

I missed the moon one which is a meavellous catch and the light breaking those clouds is wonderful.

Three great pictures. I seldom go out at night as it's too cold. So thanks for letting me see the moon.
