Ruby Tuesday: A Leprechaun Who Reads

Last Tuesday Mary suggested that since this week was St. Patrick's Day maybe we would like to post things green. This is a figurine I found a few years ago in a discount store. I sat a red candle beside him to have a little red for Ruby Tuesday to go with the green. In the first shot I can't help feeling his home is in the woods you can see just outside the window and he came inside to spend a little time with me.
Everybody wants to be Irish on St. Patrick's Day. I always did. When you're wearing green on St. Patrick's Day and have red hair people seem to take more notice and ask if you're Irish. A few years ago I researched my family history. A long ago Grandfather (too many Greats to remember just how many) on my Mother's side imigrated from Londonderry, Ireland. Today I can proudly say, yes, I'm Irish!
Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!

I love this cute guy! At first I thought he was a real person dressed in a costume.

I might have a "pinch" of Irish in me.

An educated and literate magical gnome. He looks not so much aloof, but caught up in some great story-tellin' prose! The red and green here are most appropriate as we near March 17...

He has a great smile. But I don't think I'd enjoy ears like his. Also, he's not really looking in the book, is he? I think he is begging for our attention.

(sorry about the double comment, I hit the Publish button too soon, I'm not anon!)

A very vivid man of the "Little People".
Hope he thrives in your home.
My husband and my daughter (wasn't that evident?) have some Irish drops running through their vein too.
From year 800!

What a wonderful subject you chose. He is definitely perfect for St. Patty's Day.

How wonderful about your heritage also.

I was adopted and grew up being told that I was Scots-Irish but it is not true.

I found my real genealogy from both sides and not a drop of Irish.

I am German and Cherokee!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you!!:-)))

I fancy he came in to warm up a bit. Did you sit him near the fire and make him some hot chocolate?

I like your little guy! He did come in to visit you, and he brought a book to read for you.
I did some research a few years ago too and found out my G grandfather and some of his siblings came to this country from Northern Ireland.

Cool leprechaun! I'm not Irish but my stepsisters and stepdad are. Does that count?

Love the touch of red in the St Patrick's day greens. I have some Scottish and English ancestors, I think, but no Irish. Belated Happy St. Patrick's Day!

What a neat gnome. Great idea for this. Loved your thoughts here too.

I liked it very much--to put it mildly. Books appeal to me, and the leprechaun reading it was the icing on the cake. Or should it be the other way around? The music was also lovely though sad.
