Watery Wednesday: An Amish Farm

An Amish Farm
Sugarcreek, Ohio
November 2008

Last Saturday I posted some photos of the horses I had seen on my recent trip to Sugarcreek, Ohio. This is an area filled with Amish farms. Traveling down one of the back roads I found a farm with a pond right beside the road and knew it would be perfect for a Watery Wednesday post. The next couple of days I will post more scenes from the area and Friday I will be showing more of these beautiful farms for Sky Watch.

I wish I could visit such places and especially see how they live. I only know it from movies.

Beautiful shot of a beautiful farm, Carletta.
Can't wait to see more! I'd love to go for a walk over those rolling hills.

That is just a beautiful scene. I bet it's flat out gorgeous when it's all covered in snow! (not that I'm wishing for that!)

That's really pretty when enlarged. Wait about a month and we can change that scene to Icy Wednesday. :)

To us this looks quiet, serene, idyllic... but these are some of the hardest working people on earth. Still, I'll bet they take the time to appreciate views like this when the day's work is over. Because they're also some of the most mindful people on earth too.

Great catch!

To answer your question, Atlantic Beach is on Emerald Isle, which is part of the "Crystal Coast" of NC. (Pretty much all of the beaches in NC are offshore -- the coastline is mainly made up of a chain of barrier islands.) This part of the state is occasionally referred to as the "Southern Outer Banks" (but not by the locals), but what most people know as the Outer Banks are further north than where this shot was taken.

I'm featuring this area all week this week (since I just made a trip there a few weeks ago and got a ton of photos), so if beach scenes are your thing you'll want to stop in again!

A lovely pond filled with the sound of the loon and perhaps the crickets and the bats looking for something to eat. It must be lovely to sit down and watch the activity. Notice the bullfrog.

I will be publishing a story tomorrow that will knock your socks off, but then on Friday it will be the wildest cakes you ever laid your eyes on. Honest to Pete.

It is a group of ladies seated in straight back chairs, all reading their Bibles.

You need to tell you friends. Those pictures made that issue of my Draw magazine the most read issue we ever published.

I even got Wanda linked up tomorrow.
