This flour mill was still producing as late as 1999 but is currently vacant and for sale. In the foreground is a weigh scale used to weigh the trucks or trailers to measure their loads.
The old signs on the building remind me of old stores growing up in the 50's and 60's. Well, that's what I've heard anyway. :)
The building is for sale. It does sit among residential homes so I venture to believe it will not be saved and that makes me sad.

Wouldn't it be fun if someone could buy it and renovate it and make it to something fun, like a children's museum or a school or even an old-fashioned store. But it sounds like a developer will buy it and building condos or Walmart.
If I were rich I likely wouldn't stay rich long spending my money on run down buildings with character ....
These need love and maybe some pint and curtain. ;)
This is such a wonderful old building. Amazing that less than ten years ago it was still a working building. I'd love to see it rehabed and converted into private living space.
Well-captured shots with nice sepia efect.
Gorgeous photos Carletta. Love those sepia shots.
Great shots, Carletta. Love the sepia tones.
I wish more people would restore our history.
Or wish I had the money to do my part!
Old buildings are my favourite sepia photo subjects. I really like how well you have captured their character in these photos.
Wow! Great photos! Love those old buildings!
Caletta: It is hard to believe it still exists. What a neat photo.
Don't you wish we could buy it and save it? I just hate seeing things like this torn down.
It looks like it was taken during the time of the depression. Really nice!
you always find scenes that work so well in sepia. beautiful old mill; i hope there is still a future for it.
btw, you asked about seeing some of my haiku. i have a blog with my real name where i post photo haiku/haiga. if you care to visit, here's the link: http://crowsndaisies.blogspot.com/
but please don't feel obliged to comment
Both of these are excellent photos, Carletta! What a shame it would be to lose such a marvelous old building. It reminds me of the Mast General Store in Boone, NC.
Great shots, perhaps some one will buy them and save them. Hope springs eternal.
Great old buildings and perfect for sepia - It always makes me happy when someone can take those buildings and use them for a new purpose but I understand the cost of renovation is sometimes prohibitive - At least the material may live one in some new application

Oh I absolutely love old buildings!! This is just delightful.
Please forgive me for taking a little while to get here. But, my schedule is crazy this week!!
Thanks ever so much for dropping by to see mine!!
Peace:-))
That is so perfect for a sepia, Carletta.
I hope it does get rescued, instead of being demolished one day sooner or later!
Hi!
Beautiful Sepia Shots!! Too bad someone doesn't buy it and renovate it. Thanks for stopping by my place. Take Care!!

You've done a great job of preserving at least the images of these wonderful old buildings, and they're perfect in sepia. Maybe some inspired soul will come along and turn them into something wonderful.
The flour mill is exquisite in sepia tones, Carletta. I really like this!
I think leora's idea is a real good one. Your sepia photos look original, Carletta! :)
