Camera Critters: Looking For Food

(Please scroll down for Saturday's Wordzzle)

Tuesday morning the ground was covered with snow and critters large and small came looking for food. I caught this little birdie in a tree near the bird feeder. I love birds and love watching them but I'm by no means a 'birder.' I'm not sure just which kind of woodpecker this little one is. I think she is a red-bellied woodpecker. One of you more knowledgeable readers can clue me in.
Of course the herd of deer came looking too. By herd I mean that there were about fifteen around on this particular day.
This one came munching under the snow for the birdseed that had been spilled from the feeder. Some of the deer have been familiar with this spot all summer and knew where to look. I can't be sure but think this is one of the fawns I've had since Spring.
Jake here came in the pouring snow a couple of days before. His tail feathers were covered with the white stuff. He came straight to the spot under the bird feeder so I'm sure he's been here before too. He isn't as plump as some we've seen. Guess they're in hiding these last few days before Thanksgiving.

Lovely photos. Really like that turkey and that inquisitive deer. Maybe the first snow it has ever seen.

I am in Brookville, Ohio and it is cold this morning – 13 degree Fahrenheit = -10.5555556 degree Celsius.

I'm with Judi! I want your window too.

I also know very little about birds. Maybe both of us will learn a bit this winter as they come to feeders.

Love your critter shots, Carletta.
Wish I had more critters around here to shoot.
They are here, they just only come into view at night.

Oh, Carletta, you caught a great bunch of hungry critters. Wish I could see that many in my back yard.

It does look like a female red-bellied woodpecker to me...It is winter isn't it...

Beautiful photos. I love the third one especially. It's 19 degrees here and double dusted with snow. I'm not ready for this much winter, but I guess that's irrelevant since winter is ready for me. Your photos make it seem like you live in an enchanted kingdom. So beautiful and peaceful.

I love the soft inocent face picture of that doe. The snow here is so deep, I wouldn't be surprised to see some deer under our apple trees one of these days.

I would think if the fawn was looking in the snow that way it had found something in that spot before. Great that you get to see that closely.

Wow Wow and Wow. How amazing to live where you can see all that in your yard. I'm no birder and wouldn't have even known that was some kind of woodpecker, good call. And the deer...Wow!

Funny how the turkeys know when to disappear!
You have a nice place to watch the wild life.

I like your photos and I like to see that you are enjoying the wildlife in your backyard.

In all likelihood that is one of the fawns from spring.

Lovely creatures in here, Carletta. But i wonder waht would the deer eat during the winter months? Are they gonna starve or are they going to be fed?

Got a dating entry. Would love to see ya around. :)

Snow pictures are becoming common this week. Not so here but the UK is feeling it in the east.
The birds will be glad of the feeders.
