"Show Me" - Something Relaxing

Robert (Thoughts of a Father) has had an ongoing photo project this week he has called "Show Me." So far we have photographed our mailboxs, our kitchens, our front doors, sentimental objects and favorite views in our home. Today's challenge is to show something that we find relaxing.

In my mind there is nothing more relaxing than to curl up with a good book. One of my favorite places is out on the swing underneath the gazebo. Do you remember how much fun it was as a child to go to the playground and swing as high as you could? I have always loved that feeling. When we moved in this house I knew that a swing was what I wanted in the gazebo. This week we had a day where the temps hovered around seventy and in the late afternoon a cool breeze made it seem so much closer to fall. I love those days and I'm yearning for more of them to come quickly. There is nothing as relaxing as sitting in my gazebo swinging backwards and forwards imaging that far off place my book is taking me to. Even without a book I find relaxation looking out at my own little corner of the world that surrounds me and gives me peace.
Here's hoping you find peace and relaxation in your corner of the world today.

You are so right ! I love to do this too but the tip of the top is of course having a cat on your lap, lol !

Reading is good, but I find I need sleep.

Thank you for the wish. We all need our little corners just to take time out from our busy days and reflect. I would surely love to reflect on that space.

That sounds, and looks, like absolute bliss.

Beautiful and peaceful. Your photos always seem to calm me. I love the way the book was placed on the shawl for the photo.

That's relaxing enough for me!
Would the friend care to sit there and have a cup of tea?

Yes, swings take me back to childhood. When there was not a care in the world. What could be more relaxing than that?

I would so love a porch swing. Excellent book choice too. Read that centuries ago and just let myself bask in the lush magic of the language.

I am envious of your weather, it just keeps raining over here, I don't think I can remember such a wet summer, I hope you're enjoying it.

I love swings--and I have a friend who has a playground size swing in her yard. There is just something so soothing and relaxing...oh! That reminds me. My husband once knew a guy that was unmarried, and in his living room he had a porch swing hung!

Anyway, I love reading too, and I sure enjoyed this post!

Some of my best memories as a child are of swinging on the swing set in our backyard, with my head upside down and looking up at the sky.

Porch swings are wonderful. I spent some time reading on one and it is very relaxing.

How absolutely wonderful. A swing, a book, and a lovely view. It doesn't get much better than that. :D

Your home seems to be in an idyllic place, based on this post and the previous one... I love anywhere green, it makes me peaceful.

Such a beautiful yard!
I don't have the gazebo but I do have a swing and it is indeed one of the most relaxing places to be.
Wonderful post.

This is why I like words with pictures so much. As if your picture alone wasn't enough, you continued to paint a wonderful work picture. This IS relaxing. :)
