Today's Flowers and Bridging The Gap

Black-Eyed Susans
Today's Flowers is hosted by Luiz. Each Monday he asks us to post a favorite flower photo. My offering today is Black-Eyed Susans. These are planted in a flowerbed beside our detached garage. I had so many photos I wanted to share I did a collage of them. I hope you will enlarge the collage to see the detail in each of them. Be sure to click on the icon at the top of the post to check out other participants posting flowers today.

Bridging The Gap
Alice is hosting a photo challenge this week called Bridging the Gap. She has invited readers to post photos they have taken of bridges. Clicking on the link will take you to all the information needed for joining or checking out other participants posting photos this week.

My bridges today are here in Parkersburg, West Virginia. They cross the Ohio River from Parkersburg to Belpre, Ohio. The bridge in the foreground is a railroad bridge that I posted some support pictures of some time ago. (here) It was originally built in 1871 and redone in about 1905. The second bridge you see is a four lane that carries regular traffic across the river. I took the photos from the top of Quincy Hill. A park there overlooks the city. You can see it was a little bit of a hazy day. I really need to get back up there on a clearer day and take some more photos overlooking the city. I will, I promise.

Beautiful bridges -- glorious flowers. Brown-eyed Susans are among my favorite flowers ever. I would love your collage enlarged and hanging upon my wall.

I love black-eyed susans. I looked at your collage trying to pick a favorite among the different photos and I couldn't. I like them all so I'm glad you combined them in such a lovely way.

Like your bridges too. I was thinking when I first saw that meme that they had to be current photos, but maybe I have a couple of bridges from my past that I could post. Hmmm. Have to think about that.

Beautiful collage of black-eyed susans. Mine are all turning red now; yours are still bright yellow!

I think I've driven on those bridge or ones nearby, on our way to Ohio. It is a pretty part of the country.

Love the black-eyed susans and the collage really did their beauty justice. Here in Minnesota and throughout the prairie states they grow wild and hearty.
Interesting bridge photos--one structure everyone enjoys looking at from time to time.
Thanks for sharing!

First of all, I love the collage of the Black-Eyed Susans!

Secondly, I have been meaning to ask you if you are near Parkersburg. For some reason I thought I remembered you mentioning it before, and today you did mention it.

The reason I am asking is because 4 or 5 of us that have remained best friends from elementary school are thinking about meeting there next summer. I live in Indiana, one of us lives in Pennsylvania and the others still live in TN. So Parkersburg was mentioned...not sure it will happen.

You call them Black Eyed Susan's, and we call them "Susannah with the beautiful eyes"! Poetic, isn't it!
Love the bridge too!

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed your black eyed susan collage. It's brilliant!

The collage was a good idea. I always thought black-eyes susans were just yellow. Just recently found out they come in other colors.

And thanks for the visit and comment. :-)

Great bridge pictures. Your bridge looks like one in Hancock Michigan near the Quincy mine.

NICE job! How do you get TWO great bridges side by side... and I can't even find ONE? And ya know what else? Maryland doesn't have ONE SINGLE Barn Quilt! I'm devastated! I think I'm moving!

The contrast between the two is amazing.

I've got a new monthly writing challenge going on and thought you might be interested.

Your bridge looks some what like our old bridge that cross the river here.
But a much smaller.

Thanks for stopping in at my blog.
Stop back when you get the time and the coffee is always on.

Purty flowers! The bridges remind me a grown-up and little kid. Silly analogy, but it's what I thought of.

Thanks for sharing.
