Bridging the Gap - A Photo Challenge

Alice is hosting a challenge this week to post photos of bridges. You can click on the icon above to check out the participants this week or to find out how you can join in this week's fun!
The Memorial Bridge
(Affectionally Known as The Toll Bridge)
Circa 1954

This is a toll bridge between Parkersburg, West Virginia and Belpre, Ohio. It accommodates two lanes of traffic, one in either direction. It is an alternate route to access Route 50 from central Parkersburg.
You can tell it was hazy and overcast here yesterday so I decided to play around with the photo in my image editor to see what I could come up with. I've been wanting to so something like this for awhile; but I hadn't found the right picture to munipulate. This one seemed to fit my requirements. Below are two results I particularly liked. It was a fun experience but I spent way too much time playing on the computer. I can see how this could be addictive.
A negative effect was applied here. I'm thinking snow!
This was a backlit effect applied to the bridge.

That negative effect if very cool. It was a great shot to begin with but that edit really grabbed me.

You should submit your negative image to the Creative Photography challenge. I'm suffering from inertia today. Hopefully I'll have more pep in the morning and decide on something to post.

I read "troll bridge" and had to read again!

The negative effect is cool, but I like the glowing bridge best. I was thinking it would make a great paranormal story. Horrible storm, the bridge is glowing. No one will drive across ... think of all the whys, and how fun answering them might be! Then the big question, what happens to someone who does cross?

Neat bridge! I like the editing you did especially the last one. I keep wanting to play around as well, but haven't. Thanks for sharing.

I was thinking that negative effect put that bridge above the clouds! :)

That's a beautiful bridge and I enjoyed the effects you played with. I'll post about it if I find out about the dead end bridge.

Neat photo effects Carletta! I like applying effects to photos that don't quite make the grade as a posting photo - sometimes one ends up with an outstanding photo that way. You're right it is addictive LOL

I love the negative effect! It looks like humongous piles of snow, but I agree with Robert, I love the original!

I'll be back to read more as I have been negligent in my posting and reading!

Hi Carletta. I like this photo, and thanks for telling us where it is and such. This is fun and interesting too. The negative & back lit ones you did sure are cool.

Whoof!! I bet it's not too affectionately that people call it a toll bridge, but they don't like payin' to cross, bark! They should give dog cookies at them toll booths. Nice bridge tho.
