Five Points of Blue
This is a star on the outside fireplace wall at my son and daughter-in-law's home.
When they bought the house my son told his wife he would put a pink star on the chimney for her. Pink being her favorite color. He did and along with the big pink one is this smaller blue one - for him.
I love how the paint has cracked and peeled leaving it with a rustic patina.

Just finished commenting on your blue jeans and up popped another picture. What a beautiful star. I agree with you about the rust and cracked paint - it adds something. Cool photo.
Nice choice for blue! I love the pattern of how it's aged. Very rustic!!
A year ago I would have shot this by making sure to get the whole star in the shot. I'm so glad you didn't Not just because of my macro lens, but I'm really loving getting in close. Seeing the details. There's at time and a place for pulling back too, but this one works great.
I love the stars. I have some similar ones scattered inside and outside of my house. MB
I love the rustic look of this star, it's beautiful!
Very nice choice for the theme.
I'm with you...the cracking and rust make all the difference.
A shining star, in spite of the rust and cracks!! Love it! Is the pink one a twin?
We have tons of those rusty stars around here. Definitely more than most places, but, I really like the one you have! Very pretty color blue. Don't see much of that. Here they are usually just brown and rusty.
Just stopping by to say "Hi".
Great story behind this photo! I like the aged quality of the subject.
It sure made a nice shot for project blue and you still have the pink one for another day!
I LOVE that! Weathered is good!!!
Carletta: Cool blue Star.
Carletta, fabulous blue star!! Come by tomorrow to my blog and post something red for "Ruby Tuesday." :D
Love the star and the story of the pink star and the blue star - very sweet.
I too think exposure to the elements just adds to the beauty.
i am envious... this is just amazing :)
Carletta, I have an award for you!

Great blue star, Carletta
Love this rustic and aged look, how sweet of your son to have a pink star for his wife.
Very pretty and great photo!
I just love the texture in this!!
I love both of your photos for project blue. I thought Oh Yes, the blue star is perfect and then I saw the blue jeans post! I made blue jeans patchwork quilts for three of my kids when they went of to college and I love the faded blue jeans look.
Nice and the weathered look just adds to its allure. Nice project blue post.
That's my favorite "blue" so far!
I was just saying how much I love rust! It adds so much character! I shot a star like this a few weeks back but it was new and it just wasn't all that interesting! Well done.
I love the cracked and rusted look. Gives it character. Nice shot.
Robert is right - the shot is great because it still clearly shows the object is a star, without having to include the entire object and the associated blank space around it.
Good choice for blue - unique for the theme.
This is a fabulous blue!! Love the star and the rusty lines make it I think :)
Love this shot! Lots of texture and character.
I love your rustic blue star...and the story of it and the pink one!
