As I watched from the window the little grey squirrel ran down the lichen covered oak tree. He stopped and looked to the right to see if the coast was clear.
He scampered to the left beside the Rose of Sharon bushes. All winter he had stolen walnuts from the neighbor's trees and ran down the property line and into the woods to who knows where. I guess on one of his trips he had to stash the loot and run! As he dug furiously at the ground you could tell he was back to retrieve it.
He sat staunchly on his back paws and gnawed at his treasure from the ground. All the while not knowing he was being spied upon!
When he was satisfied he had it the way he liked it off he went. To where - who knows - maybe to eat his little morsel or perhaps to bury the treasure again!

Awesome post!! You should be writing children's books ... and illustrating them too! Love your music selection!!
Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog. Love your photos :o)
Well written story. Cute squirrel. I fed our neighborhood squirrels peanuts one year. I would pile them on a tree stump at the edge of the lawn. They would eat their fill, then snatch one or two and go bury them. They got tired of running so they started to bury them just steps away in the lawn. Hours of fun watching them.
Don't you just love to watch them bury stuff...mine will bury something then really tamp up and down on it once it is done. Wish we had videos...
Hi Carletta..
I have just been feeding my friendly Squirrel I call Hazel.. I looked out the kitchen window and she was chewing on a lamb bone I had put out for my friends dog. She soon dropped the bone when I went to the door with her peanuts.. I put out some apple but she left that...
I will post some pictures of her next week. She comes into the house at times... but only when Jane is out or she get told off. She even comes to me in the street now as well.
Catch you some more
Tom
The squirrels have driven my Yorkies so crazy that my male, Charlie, has broken several panes of window glass with his little head! I had to move all the bird feeders out of sight or I wouldn't have any windows left. Sometimes I think the squirrels are smart and just tormenting him on purpose.
