Reflections

"Be still, sad heart, and cease repining;
Behind the clouds the sun is shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary."
---Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

So it is this Tuesday afternoon as I sit gazing out my window. The deer are roaming in the backyard as usual this day and the fog from over the nearby river has risen beyond the trees. A little gray squirrel runs down the trunk of the oak tree and scurries to find his treasure. The children next door who were outside yesterday on a rare balmy winter day are nowhere to be seen . Perhaps they're tucked inside with a book or a blanket for a nap. I sit and watch the rain gently tap at the top of the patio table. Upon closer examination I notice the oak tree's reflection in the glass and grab my camera to try and capture the upside down image.
A dark and dreary day indeed, but a day to embrace and reflect as well.
