Good Fences

Snow and close to zero and below temperatures tend to keep you inside as is the case I know for most of us. We had been in for days because of the weather but as it is supposed to get down to below zero tonight and much colder tomorrow we opted to go out for lunch today just to quell some of the cabin fever that has been setting in. This first photo shows the fence at a neighbor's farm. You can see the silo and barn in the background. In the foreground the biting blowing wind has left the snow in drifts.

Further down the fence line are two different types of posts used together. In both photos taken in between snow squalls is a small hint of blue in an otherwise dull canvas that looked like no sky at all.

Ruby Tuesday: Rural Patriotism

Driving down a country road Hubs and I came around the bend and saw this idyllic rural scene with the American flag flying high above the farm silo. What made it even more picturesque was the field of ironweed in front of it. I was especially pleased that there was a small breeze so that the flag waved proudly in the wind.

I think the only thing that keeps this from looking like it was taken years ago is the new steel grain silo on the left.

Amended Thoughts and Image

Reading through my comments with regard to the silo and making this look like an old photo I have taken my original sepia and added some grainy elements to it (thanks Mojo) to make it appear like an older photo.
