Good Fences

Snow and close to zero and below temperatures tend to keep you inside as is the case I know for most of us. We had been in for days because of the weather but as it is supposed to get down to below zero tonight and much colder tomorrow we opted to go out for lunch today just to quell some of the cabin fever that has been setting in. This first photo shows the fence at a neighbor's farm. You can see the silo and barn in the background. In the foreground the biting blowing wind has left the snow in drifts.

Further down the fence line are two different types of posts used together. In both photos taken in between snow squalls is a small hint of blue in an otherwise dull canvas that looked like no sky at all.

  1. I've seen lots of days with no sky ... When we lived in oregon ... And even in the autumn when we visit there lately. But it is never that cold! Brrrrrr. I am glad you got to go outside and I'm glad you shared the photos. Stay warm and cuddle up!

  7. It looks as cold there as it does here! Just bitter, bitter cold. The fences look lonely!

  8. It's still below zero at our house. It's downright frigid. We'll be staying in again.

That 2nd shot is quite lovely with just the hint of a blue sky. The grasses look pretty up against the fence.

  15. These pictures capture the very cold temperatures by looking so cold and desolate. I'm with you....brave the cold to go have lunch and get out of the house.

  16. The grasses along the fence line give color and texture to an otherwise stark winter landscape.
