A couple of weeks ago I was out chasing the evening sun to hopefully catch the partial eclipse. I realized later I wasn't high enough in elevation to actual get the right pic; but it didn't matter when I caught a glimpse of this guy. I had slowed my Jeep to a crawl along the rural road I was on because I saw three deer above the road. You never know in what direction they might go. After an almost complete stop I glanced to the stand of pine trees on the opposite side of the road and saw this guy with his back to me. I initially thought he was a hawk and would fly when he realized I was there. I grabbed the camera anyway and I just kept snapping and when he turned I was ecstatic. This is my first owl sighting in the wild.
As a quick note I want to thank everyone who has kept in touch by email wanting to know about my husband after his triple by-pass. He is doing very well. His doctor released him mid-October. His only restriction is the amount he can lift because his sternum is still healing. A warm heartfelt thanks to those who have kept in contact with me. It's good to be able to get back to blogging. Lots of photos need posting and I may change up my blog just a little when it comes to posting. Haven't worked that decision all out yet. I have missed you all. I'll be around to visit all of you and see some of what I've missed these last months.
