Seen last weekend near Hagerstown, Maryland.
From the blimp website: “It’s been more than 10 years since a Budweiser blimp has taken flight, so when adults see our Designate a Driver blimp, we hope they’ll take our message to heart and either volunteer to be or use a designated driver.”
The blimp is making a 17 week tour this summer with stops in 25 cities to encourage the use of designated drivers'
The 130-foot airship can reach a top speed of 50 miles per hour but typically cruises at between 30 and 35 miles per hour at an altitude of 1,000 feet. It requires more than 69,000 cubic feet of helium to fully inflate the American-made blimp, and it takes a crew of 13, including a pilot, to operate and transport the airship throughout the tour.
A lucky shot - right place, right time!

Excellent capture, Carletta! Great cause, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat capture Carletta, I hope the message gets through. We have a similar advertising campaign over here as it is just becoming far too prevalent now, people drinking and then driving. Certainly not worth the consequences.
ReplyDeleteRight time, right place, right photographer! (Just a little more than a lucky shot!)
ReplyDeleteHI Carietta Yes, these are great photos of the balloon. Lovely to see it.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures Carletta~
ReplyDeleteNeat-o! I have never seen a real live blimp before. That is awesome.
ReplyDeleteObviously it was a beautiful day and I love the contrast of the blue and the red and I love the angle in that first shot....You really did a great job with these captures....
ReplyDeletewow - a crew of 13 surprised me! neat!

A fine capture of this good looking blimp. The effort by Budweiser does some good I would hope.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I'm going to keep my head up and look to see if it will be in my neighborhood! ;)
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize this was so huge. So if somebody doesn't get the message they have got to be very short sighted in more ways than one.
ReplyDeleteLove that colorful blimp!! What a great capture for the day, Carletta!! And what wonderful, clear blue skies!! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I've seen a blimp high in the sky. Of course, it was a sporting event.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos
Great post, nice to study!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if the right people will actually get that message, but on the other hand, it sure is fun to see a blimp!
ReplyDeleteCarletta, I've missed your posts !!! A blimp with a great message--wish more people would follow that advice. Have a great weekend. Mickie :)

ReplyDeleteGood message for the blimp.
ReplyDeleteNice shot and interesting information. As far as it being a lucky shot I think luck is where preparation meets opportunity.
ReplyDeleteThese are great shots of the blimp.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun shots!
ReplyDeleteYou were down our way. Great capture. I did not see that blimp, but I did see Snoopy a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteThis has been the year of the blimp(s) for us - Snoopy, Minions from Miserable Me and one or two with miscellaneous advertisers. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot and an excellent message!
ReplyDeleteexcellent photo... another alternative would be to just not drink... but I guess that would be in an alternative universe.
ReplyDeleteNow that is up close and personal. Can almost reach out and touch it.
