He posed and smiled for me.
He munched a bite of grass.
One last look before meandering away.
I happened upon this chubby little guy last November as I was leaving my local Wal-Mart. I suspect it was shortly before he decided to hibernate for the winter. Here's hoping the predicting ones of his species come out today and DON'T see their shadow! I don't know about you; but I could use an early Spring!

Cute little guy. We don't have them here but I saw some in the Austrian alps back in... oh, 1990, long time ago...
ReplyDeleteAdorable animal, but he'll eat your garden vegetables unless you have a fence. :-(
ReplyDeleteI'm with you about an early Spring! Although we've been pretty lucky here in CT. (I probably just jinxed us.) Two years ago we had the "Winter from Hell" here so Mother Nature still owes us a few easy Winters after that one. ;-)
they are always so cute. not great for your yard though. ha.ha!! ( :
ReplyDeleteadorable fat varmint! :)
ReplyDeleteAS I MENTIONED, THIS GUY WAS NEAR THE LOCAL WAL-MART. HOWEVER WE HAD ONE LIVE UNDER OUR GARDEN SHED TWO SUMMERS AGO AND HE NEVER WENT INTO THE GARDEN. HE CAME OUT EVERY MORNING AND EVENING AND GRAZED IN OUR YARD.
ReplyDeleteCarletta, this is one perfect post for such a 'holiday'. You did yourself proud with such a cute, rascally looking "Phil".
ReplyDeleteOhhh, terrific! He sure has his winter fat!
ReplyDeleteThere is no way anyone could have posted anything more perfect for the day and the meme! Amazing portraits (I think you're an animal whisperer to have him pose so beautifully!)
ReplyDeleteCute little critter! Is this one of Phil's relatives? Happy Groundhog day, Carletta!
ReplyDeleteCute little guy, isn't he???? WELL--he didn't see his shadow here today since we have SNOW... SO--maybe our sprouting spring flowers will be right. Maybe we will have an early spring....???????
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, I'm enjoying winter and SNOW.
Hugs,
Betsy
He looks cute and his antics sound cute!
ReplyDeleteI too could use an early (and warm) spring!
And a Happy Groundhog Day to you. I haven't seen a ground hog here for more than thirty years. I wonder if we have any left.
ReplyDeleteHappy Ground Hog Day!
ReplyDeleteGood news, Phil didn't see his shadow today. Spring is coming!
He is a cute little guy and I love his smile.
Wow! Great shots of the ground hog for Weekly Best ~

Cute little guy, and so nice of him to pose for you! Great idea for today's post - I love it!
ReplyDeleteI never can remember what it means if the groundhog sees his shadow - do we have more winter or not?
ReplyDeleteWow! A groundhog actually posed for you!
ReplyDeleteAn early spring would be nice but I suspect that isn't going to happen. :))
Sounds like Phil has predicted an early spring. I hope your groundhog did too! :)
ReplyDeleteI adore this cute guy. Great shots, Carletta.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteHappy Groundhog Day!
Aw, what a wonderful plump groundhog! Great photos! I wish we had a groundhog around here, we had to go with Muffin the guinea pig -- LOL!
ReplyDeleteVisiting via Camera Critters
I don't think he saw his shadow today--just hope we do get an early spring!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots - if they lived here we'd have 6 more weeks of winter - even though the forecast doesn't call for that. :-) I've been working my way through your blog - your bird photos are super fabulous - I don't get such good still shots at the feeders - our birds seem to be jumping about too much. Love them all.
ReplyDeleteI was very relieved to read that these pictures -- which are very good of the little character -- were taken last November. I, too, am hoping for an early Spring.
ReplyDeleteoh, I envy you the opportunity to catch this guy on camera! Lucky@
ReplyDeleteWow, lucky you!
ReplyDeleteOur Critter.

ReplyDeleteWhat a cute critter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect post! He's adorable!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes...early spring, please!
ReplyDeleteCute little fellow!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable... I remember sitting in the hot Montana summer sun trying to get some decent shots of Prairie Dogs, elusive little fellows they were! I'm so glad you came by to share on Weekly Top Shot #68!
ReplyDeleteHe posed nicely for you. I saw a fly in my kitchen, I'm not sure what that means.
ReplyDeleteWow! SO glad he thinks we are having an early spring!
