Must be blue jay time--I had a front yard full last week--with red cardinals. The ones here wear more boldly blue--love this soft color. They deserve to be a bit vain--beautiful!

I posted a closeup of the "gate to nowhere" that you commented on in my barn post yesterday. I do believe you are right and that poor chicken is guarding nothing!
I don't think I've ever seen two so close together; when one arrives, the other departs quickly. One of my favorite birds, they love peanuts, and aren't afraid to come close to get them. Great shot.
