"If
you feel the urge, don't be afraid to go on a wild goose chase. What do you
think wild geese are for anyway?" ~ Will Rogers
I was out taking photos of the fall leaves before our "Frankenstorm" weather had a chance to blow all the leaves off the trees. As I was taking photos in the cold air I could hear the honking of geese. Not sure where they were or where they were going I stepped out from under the gum trees and barely had time to point and shoot as they flew over my rooftop a good 400 feet away.
The photo isn't a sharp and clear image but I rather like how this straight out of the camera shot turned out.

very nice!
ReplyDeletesaw/heard my first flock here this past weekend.
Great capture, Carletta. How did the storm treat you there, I hope all is well!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot, Carletta! I hope you survived the storm without any problems.
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to take pictures of flying birds. I like your photo!
ReplyDeleteHope you are safe.
Greetings Pia
Great shot! The geese have been congregating here for a while now.
ReplyDeleteNice shot. Always good to see geese in flight.
ReplyDeleteGeese are back here too. I'm trying for a decent flight shot. Hope you had no serous Sandy effects.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of the geese in flight like that.
ReplyDeleteFantastic images of a great bird!!! Oh, and 'catchy' blog post title.
ReplyDeleteNice flighshot of the geese!
ReplyDeleteIt is a dramatic shot. They know a storm is coming and they are off.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good shot of these impressive flyers!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteNeat picture. I hope you survived the storm with no damage.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with you and your family. Love the geese shot!
ReplyDeleteThose geese are probably heading SOUTH to get away from the horrible storm. So much of your state is covered in snow... My prayers are with those who had damage in this horrible tragedy...
ReplyDeleteGlad you all are okay.
Hugs,
Betsy
I stop and look at every flight of geese. We have geese coming through into late November. The northern geese just keep coming.
ReplyDeleteThat is always an awesome sight!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a neat picture of the geese. Do you think they were heading south to get away from Sandy?
ReplyDeleteThanks George!
ReplyDeleteWe have some Canada Geese that stay all year on neighboring ponds but I don't usually see flocks of this size so I'm not sure.
This photo makes a beautiful piece of art!
ReplyDeleteHope you (and the geese) come through the storm OK. I think its a good image - not everything has to be pin sharp to be good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to WBW.

I like the image. It evokes a sense of the coming winter, the urge of the geese to migrate. I can almost hear them..........
ReplyDeleteit i probably a month since I saw any goose what so ever.
ReplyDeleteHope you made it safe through the storm .
Nice capture of the formation!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo of the geese.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. The quote is cute and your header is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a Chinese pen and ink drawing--like it a lot. I hear the geese fly over as I'm fixing breakfast but by the time they register and I grab camera, they're gone.
ReplyDeleteperfect photo and quote combo.
