Yesterday morning Hubby and I went out for breakfast and then for a Sunday drive. As we drove down a rural road this lovely old silo came into view. I'm loving that little bit of color showing up on the trees just past the silo. I'm so ready for the colors of fall!
As I stood on the side of the road and photographed the silo the old barn above was to my left. It looks like it's being overtaken by vines but the rusty roof gives it a lot of charm for me. A truck was coming so we had to move out of the middle of the road.
As we drove on past the silo Hubby was again able to pull off and I got out and took a shot of the scene behind us. As you can see a new much larger barn stands on the hill.
Don't you LOVE it! At the end of our drive we had stopped at a local farm store to pick up some suet for my bird feeders. Usually I don't go in the store with hubby; but today I did and boy was I happy that I had! Isn't this the best T-shirt! Even Hubby smiled when he picked it up.
You all want one too don't you! Yes, you do! :)

Very impressive silo. What grain would be stored in it? And it appears to be hilly countryside, so I guess the grain is brought in?
Hmmmmmmm! Now how can one 'delicately' put it? The T-Shirt!!!! I would just love one to wear on my up-coming trip south when I will be in the countryside, the locals would get a few good laughs and I would get one "hell of a ribbing"!
I best not say anymore, it might come back to haunt me - ha ha!

Weather report: Tuesday 2nd October. Two days of steady rain have gone, badly needed for the lawns and gardens after 2 months of zilch. Really strangely winter like yesterday. Sunny and cloudless this morning 6.45am.

The silo would be used to store corn. It is hilly countryside on that side of the road. Standing taking the last photo if I had turned around and taken a photo of the other side of the road you would see a very large flat field where corn is grown. The whole area is hilly in sections and flat in others.
Great shots - and I do SO love that shirt! What a hoot...perfect for us barn junkies, too!
That Sunday drive couldn't have been better for the barn meme! Great barns (looks like they just left the old one when they built the new!) and that T-Shirt is hilariously perfect!
That first silo is one huge hummer. The old barn looks as if it has a few stories to tell.

Quite a lovely setting with all three barns and that silo reaching for the sky! Its height is really shown off with the low-lying barn beside it.

Gorgeous barns! I need that t-shirt! I moved to Missouri from Las Vegas 7 months ago. I LOVE it here. So happy to be able to go barn hunting whenever I want.

Oh, I like the shots you took...specially love that first shot for the impact it gives. But I love that barn, too.
First thoughts--this is one hardworking or maybe just optimistic farmer living here. The size of that silo and number of barns. Hope its been a good year for them--a challenge around here.

A fine barn and silo series. I struggle with others cars coming and the reason I do a number of drive-by shots. The country roads around here have absolutely no shoulders or place to get out-of-the-road.
