Incredible birds. Apparently in the Great Rift area of Kenya and Tanzania, the sky goes pink when they take to the sky. Thousands of them, what a sight to see?I thought we had them also in Australia, but can't find any reference for them???Some Aussie viewer may know, but I thought they were in the Lake Eyre area and in the northern regions.Great shots from the Columbus Zoo.CheersColin (Brisbane.Australia)
What great closeups of the flamingo! They are so pretty...
such amazing birds!
Don't you LOVE their colour!?
Nice pictures you show of flamingoHanne Bente
Beautiful! They are such colourful birds! It's a long time since I last saw one, in Zoo in Copenhagen. Thanks for your comment!Greetings Pia in Sweden
So pretty, I have never seen one anywhere.
Great close-up! I manage to take some photos of these lovely birds when I was in Marocco, - and later on in Tanzania. (Ngorongoro)A perfect WBW-post!
They looks really cool! Great shots! :)
In that head shot the flamingo has a definite attitude but not sure what he/she is saying?
It's always neat to see exotic animals. What a pretty pink flamingo. Such an interesting beak.Your Rose of Sharon is beautiful!
...it's like it posed for you!!! Gorgeous.Wild Bird Wednesday - Backyard Birds
Awesome face on that dude! Well done. It gives people like us to see something close up where we see all the detail.
Oh wow -- they really are just crazy beautiful. There are supposed to be a few wild ones in Florida, but we've never seen them (as we haven't seen a majority of the State actually)...maybe someday.
Such fantastic colours!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Flamingos are so much fun to photograph. Love yours.
wow, great shot of this stunning bird. :)
nice shot--my kids used to call them "Mr. Stand on One Leg"
Hello Carletta,Great shots of the Flamingo. They are beautiful birds.
Hi CarlettaI have been informed by people who know that flamingos are not native to Australia. The big flocks of birds in the wetlands of Lake Eyre are pelicans.Where HansHB saw the flamingos at (Ngorongoro) Tanzania, is where my sister recently saw them.Obviously a place to put on any "Must visit bucket List".CheersColin (Brisbane.Australia)
Lovely birds to see...
These are marvelous of the flamingo. I especially like your head shot.
Hi, Just wanted to drop by and say HELLO. It's been a busy week/month --and just gonna get busier. Gorgeous Flamingos... I have always liked seeing them. Their color is AWESOME...Hugs,Betsy
Hi there - what a great (and strange!) bird - I wish that Colin from Brisbane was correct - but we don't get them in Australia! But it's a good reason to visit Africa!thanks for the visit to WBW - Stewart M
