A Morning Sunrise

6:15 AM Wednesday Morning
The sun has risen.  The pinks and blues of the early morning sky have given way to what is now a silvery glow outside my sun room window.  A deer and her two yearlings parade across the backyard.  Birds sing in the trees and in the vines of the wisteria. Even though I watch them and photograph them I am not attune to their individual calls and songs save for the low cooing of the mourning dove or the incessant caw of the ever present crows.  All I know is that their songs are lilting to my ears and sweet is the sound as it breaks the morning silence. Cows are bellowing in a nearby field. A gaggle of geese fly overhead squawking their arrival at a neighbor’s pond.
I’m mostly a night owl and I haven’t been up this early in a while; but today the morning greets me with the wonder of nature and my heart is full and I can’t help but smile.

  2. Hmmmm!
"ever present crows" - just be careful! ha ha.
My goodness, you have been overcome with incrediable "musings" at an early hour of the morning, of what one finds in the "Iliads" of Homer with your descriptions of early sunrise in West Virginia! Look out Plato and Socrates, here come Carletta. Quite brilliant! One feels that one is there with you.
(except for the crows, leave them out please in future with these early morning experiences - ha ha)
    Cheers

  10. Gorgeous sunrise, Carletta. We are seldom up that early in the mornings and of course, we live between the ridges --so it's hard to see a sunrise from our house... BUT--our birdies wake us up early begging for their breakfast.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  26. Don't you just hate it sometimes...that we have to sleep at all. I stay up late...I am not in bed before midnight once a month...more apt to be 2:00a.m.--and sometimes 3:00...but I actually feel better to get up about 7:30---8:00...

sunrises like this make it worthwhile.
