Barn Charm

It's that time of week to showcase another barn. This black barn sits along the four lane interstate near downtown. Traffic is heavy and fast. I took a chance early last week and attempted a drive-by shot. By luck it isn't as blurry as I expected. I really like the detail of the barn doors. When they are all shut I can't help thinking of a western barn and cowboys. I'll have to try to get that shot one day.
I suspect they had been airing out the barn in anticipation of putting in the hay. When we passed by last Friday evening the hay had been cut and was ready to be baled. We had a few days of really hot dry weather so it was perfect for working in the hay.
Check out other barns at Tricia's Barn Charm.

  3. The roof is shallow like on barns built where there's not much snow. It's very attractive with the windows and doors open.

  4. It is really charming. I love the idea of "Airing out the Barn before putting in the Hay", could be a great title for a book too!

    I don't think I'll be posting a barn shot this time. :(

  6. I agree - what a great title that phrase would be! Love the barn shot - would be nice to see it with the doors closed, although I can imagine what it looks like...if I close my eyes a little and squint. Great shot!

  8. Carletta. Glad you clarified as to who was driving - ha ha!
Looks like with the pile of new/fresh looking wood posts or panels, that some maintenance is to take place?
The roof certainly looks newer than the walls/doors etc. Maybe even work as commenced inside the barn? Thankfully it was not painted GREEN!
I now look forward to your barn photos. Something that is not common here. I suppose because we just refer to them as sheds???
    Cheers

Weather report: 7.30am Tues.12th June. Well after two miserable days of rain and wind, it is fine, but clouds still hang about. Rain is predicted but really what would they know??? Better not rain, it is my Toowong day this morning.

It seems that all too often, the really nice barns can only be captured this way.

  19. That's a big barn! It looks like it has a fairly new roof. Be careful wielding a camera while behind the wheel. I'm hoping someone else was driving!

  25. Haying already? Don't know that much about farming, but seems early but with our crazy weather who can be surprised. You took a chance on a driveby shot and got rewarded. Like the light in your pic--and the door braces.
