It's that time of week to showcase another barn. This black barn sits along the four lane interstate near downtown. Traffic is heavy and fast. I took a chance early last week and attempted a drive-by shot. By luck it isn't as blurry as I expected. I really like the detail of the barn doors. When they are all shut I can't help thinking of a western barn and cowboys. I'll have to try to get that shot one day.
I suspect they had been airing out the barn in anticipation of putting in the hay. When we passed by last Friday evening the hay had been cut and was ready to be baled. We had a few days of really hot dry weather so it was perfect for working in the hay.

that's a really nice looking barn! glad you were able to risk your life for a shot to share! :)
I WASN'T DRIVING - HUBS WAS! :)
The roof is shallow like on barns built where there's not much snow. It's very attractive with the windows and doors open.
It is really charming. I love the idea of "Airing out the Barn before putting in the Hay", could be a great title for a book too!
I really like this barn! Thanks for sharing it here.
I don't think I'll be posting a barn shot this time. :(
(I DO have some other things going on, though, so come visit any time! :)

I agree - what a great title that phrase would be! Love the barn shot - would be nice to see it with the doors closed, although I can imagine what it looks like...if I close my eyes a little and squint. Great shot!
That is a nice looking barn and you got a good shot. I would also like to see it with the doors closed.
Carletta. Glad you clarified as to who was driving - ha ha!
Looks like with the pile of new/fresh looking wood posts or panels, that some maintenance is to take place?
The roof certainly looks newer than the walls/doors etc. Maybe even work as commenced inside the barn? Thankfully it was not painted GREEN!
I now look forward to your barn photos. Something that is not common here. I suppose because we just refer to them as sheds???
Cheers

Weather report: 7.30am Tues.12th June. Well after two miserable days of rain and wind, it is fine, but clouds still hang about. Rain is predicted but really what would they know??? Better not rain, it is my Toowong day this morning.
This is a wonderful barn, and your photo is very good. Just be careful on that busy road when you try to get a picture with the doors closed.
This is a really beautiful barn. I love the doors too and the low set of the building. I'm glad you took the drive by shot. Tricky business in heavy traffic! lol Thanks for visiting me. Pamela
This barn is a very established facility. I wonder what it was actually used for?
Wow, this is a real beauty, Carletta. It looks large and low!
I lova all barns, and I'm glad you were safe getting this shot Carletta. Been there done that.
Cool barn- I like the trim!
That barn looks so beautiful, it's hard to imagine a 4-lane anything near it. Great shot!
Great barn! I like the open doors too. Glad you weren't driving, :)
It seems that all too often, the really nice barns can only be captured this way.
For a drive by shooting this one is beautiful shot. Looks this barn is huge and in great shape.

Oh, this is a great looking barn. I don't remember seeing a black barn. I like the decorative lines in white. It is very large also.
Lovely barn! You did a great job with your drive-by--always hard to do from an interstate.
love it. such character. (:
That's a big barn! It looks like it has a fairly new roof. Be careful wielding a camera while behind the wheel. I'm hoping someone else was driving!
I love these black barns from your area of the country. So unique (to me) and I love that it's still being used.
What a really nice barn. I love that they have taken care of it. A good shot of it, too--even on the run!
Great West VA barn, Carletta... It's been taken care of really well, hasn't it?
Hugs,
Betsy
Beautiful picture of a big let you run. Wishing you a good evening. Hanne Bente
Wonderful barn! Love the color and the white details!
Haying already? Don't know that much about farming, but seems early but with our crazy weather who can be surprised. You took a chance on a driveby shot and got rewarded. Like the light in your pic--and the door braces.
The barn is very cool, esp black, but I LOVE the barn doors, too, love how they stand out from the rest of it!
Thank you, Carletta =)
A very attractive barn. I like its low style. Well done.
That is one large sprawling barn! What a great one. :-)
