Regular readers of this blog will have noticed my absense over the last couple of weeks. My youngest granddaughter turned three last week so Hubs and I took a little road trip in order to celebrate with her. We returned home to West Virginia yesterday evening. Our route takes us through the state capital. This first shot is just after leaving the West Virginia Turnpike. We could see the sun beginning to set over downtown Charleston.
This scene is looking North as we passed the state capitol building.
The sun is setting in the distance behind the lights of Laidley Field. The stadium is home to the University of Charleston Golden Eagles. It features a FieldTurf playing field for football and facilities for track and field competitions.
One more glance as we head out of town leaving the city lights for the country. It would be the last hour of our nine hour trip before reaching home sweet home.
(These are all drive-by shots through the windshield so please excuse that they aren't in sharp focus.)

Sunset, clouds and color. Great skies!
ReplyDeletei thought of you the other day (barn charm, i think) and hoped you were okay. :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I know you had a great time with the b-d girl and the other two darlings (and their parents too)!
ReplyDeleteWe drove past Charleston West VA on our roadtrip a couple of years ago on our way to see our (grown-up) granddaughter and her family in Charleston SC -- I had been asleep as we drove and woke up just at the sign -- I got so excited, thought we were already there! (My sweet husband laughed at me!)
Beautiful shots of the capital and those lovely skies. Three is such a "fun" age--I know you will enjoy spending as much time as possible with your little granddaughter. I'm sure your 9 hour trip was well worth it. Have a great weekend. Mickie ;)
