Hubby and I were traveling down the interstate on the way to my Mom's house when he quickly started putting on the breaks and pulled over to the shoulder. I had been looking out my passenger side window so I had no idea what had possessed this behavior. I turned to him and asked what he was doing. He said it's a hawk. I always see many as we're driving along and depending on where we are he tries to stop for me so I can at least attempt to get a good shot of one.
On this day he saw the above guy on a wire crossing the interstate and started stopping. I was sure once I opened my door the hawk would fly. Surprisingly he didn't and I got two or three shots. This isn't an exceptional image by any means but it is a record of what we saw that day thanks to Hubby's quick response.

He's got his eye on you.
Wow!! It IS a good shot when you enlarge it! I have them come into my back yard but have, yet, to get a good shot of one!
I think that's a great shot! Gotta love our hubbies looking out for photo ops for us. That's amazing that the hawk didn't fly off when you opened your door.
Good one!
ya got hubby "Poofing", fantastic!
(that all important stop without screeching the tires to get the wild life shot)
Great eye and sighting, Carletta! Your got a great shot of the hawk. they usually fly away right before I get to snap the photo. Have a great weekend!
I think this is a wonderful picture of the hawk, and I'm glad he cooperated and stayed so you could get the capture. I'm also glad your husband had such a good eye and quick reaction.
Great shot. Well taken.
Awesome photo. I have never seen a hawk just hanging out on a tree. Many buzzards, but no hawk.
Gorgeous picture of the Hawk, Carletta... Glad your hubby saw him ---and that you got some good pictures... PERFECT!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
Looks like he is watching you. He is a camera lover :)
I think it's a very good shot. Birds can be so elusive and difficult to capture in a setting I like, or they have a strange pose. You did very well thanks to hubby for stopping!
Beautiful shot Carleta!
Great capture of this magnificent raptor!
I think this is a beautiful shot Carletta. Usually they take off before I can get focused. That's a very observant hubby you have.
Oh that is a big hawk, and certainly the stance is so authoritative. Your husband is so sweet.
wow, what a shot!
At least you got something to remember the day by....and it is a much better shot than I normally get of hawks.
Fabulous that your dear sweet husband saw that handsome bird and pulledl over BEFORE you screeched "stop"! What a guy!
This is what I do, too! Pull over. When my hubby drives I am hard-pressed to get him to pull over in time.
Love the photos.
Cheers from Cottage Country!
P.S. I love barns, too! What fun.
