Finally a thump, thump, thump on the hard shell said it was time for pickin'.
Cutting it in half revealed the sweet pink-red flesh inside.
Prepare for sticky hands, drippy elbows and spitting of seeds.
Yum, Yum, Yum!
Before I bit in I could swear it winked and smiled at me!

I played too. Mine are here and here.
The soft ruby is sweet, with a satisfying crunch. The ripe red fruit is the tasty end to a perfect meal...

How clever! To start wit the green and end with the red!
What a great post! I can just taste smell and feel the juice from that melon slice.
Nothing better than straight from the garden.

Ahhh, one of the great gifts of summer - nice shots!
Save a piece for me--I will be right over!
Nothing says 'summer' like home-grown watermelon. I'll bet it was (is) delicious.
YUM.I have one in the fridge..Can't wait.
Did yu feel that you should eat it after it smiled at you? I grew a pimpkin vine, it had 2 pumpkins. i gave one to a friend. The other I kept just to make me happy because I don't eat pumpkins. Not long after, it started to rot. What a waste.
Send me a piece....with salt on it. :) I've had as many good watermelons this year as I had in the previous 10 years. Hope all is well with you.
Mouthwateringly delicious!Mary made me crave a peach and now you made my mouth water too!
What a beautiful delicious gift from the Sacred Earth Mother.
