Hubs and I found this river museum the same day we found the McDonald's billboard I posted a couple of weeks back. Above is a mural on the outside of the museum depicting an old sternwheel steamer.(I didn't see the plane flying overhead until after I downloaded the photos.)

Love the sign; You have a talent for finding color and beauty in the most unexpected places! .
ReplyDeleteWonderful Rubies, Carletta!
ReplyDeleteFantastic photos. I'd love to see that. I wish I had a picture of the MS Dixie on Lake Tahoe. It's a beauty.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely perfect Ruby Tuesday captures. Have a great RT.
ReplyDeleteNeat Carletta..... That's a neat way to remember the old riverboats.... I love the Paddlewheelers. Did you go inside?????
ReplyDeleteWhat a good post for Ruby Tuesday....

Never heard it described as a river museum before, very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe shot with the plane flying overhead is great-must've been a lovely surprise when you downloaded it!
Fun photos, a great ruby. Would love to visit . . .
ReplyDeleteLots of rubies here. Love the paddlewheel most. Haven't seen one before. Thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteCool captures Carletta! I hope you like that alliteration. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI could see the paddlewheel photo in sepia, since it is so old-fashioned.
Happy Ruby Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by!
Oh makes me think of the time my family took a river boat cruise up the Mississippi for my folks 50th Wedding anniversary. So much fun to see that big red paddle wheel slapping through the water. Thanks for bringing that to mind today.
ReplyDeleteHappy Ruby Blessings ;-)
interesting finds :) perfect for RT!
ReplyDeleteu may view mine here
I had never seen a paddlewheel, I don't even know for what it is used !
ReplyDeleteBTW the Thai restaurant has excellent food, the place is also very beautiful and in summer you can eat outside in the garden. And it is very cheap a lunch for 7 € ! and you have the choice between 6 plates !
I love the paddlewheel!
ReplyDeleteall those cool angles
and the red really shows it off
The paddlewheel steamers plied the great river system often - from Pittsburgh to New Orleans, the great river highways, Ohio an Mississippi, opened the south from the north - and memories and history are preserved so well in your post and the museum...
ReplyDeleteFrom riverboats to airplanes -- you've covered quite a history of transportation in this post. I like the paddlewheel.
ReplyDeleteI love all that red! I'm glad you mentioned the McDonald's sign because I missed it before. I really like old signs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great museum! The first thing that came to mind when I saw the paddlewheel was Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. The last time I saw a paddlewheel was at Disney World (and that was a great day!) Wonderful captures, Carletta.
ReplyDeleteGreat sign! I love finding murals on buildings when we drive through towns on our travels!
ReplyDeleteCarletta, this is the best! So much wonderful RED from this museum. Did I ever tell you I want to go down the Mississippi in a river boat? I got the idea from Mary Morris's book "River Queen." She came to our book and author luncheon and she told us all about it. I think you'd love the book! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch fascinating ruby finds! The River Museum sign is delightful and I especially love that huge paddlewheel!
ReplyDeleteWhat marvelous RUBY views you found to photograph and share! Looks like a place I'd enjoy visiting.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
