My images for Wild Bird Wednesday are both taken through the window in less than optimum conditions so while they aren't clear and crisp they do document the activity in my backyard. I took the bluebird shot a couple of weeks ago before I took my blogging break. Those oak catkins are now full fledged leaves and it's hard to see the birds. I have seen this male bluebird and his mate flying around so I'm sure a nest is near.
This turkey hen visited the backyard both Saturday and Sunday. I had seen her a couple of weeks ago as well. She is always by herself and doesn't stay long after eating the birdseed dropped from the feeder. I feel sure she is sitting on a nest in the woods as it is nesting season. I hope so. I'll begin leaving a little extra birdseed on the ground just in case.

ReplyDeleteNow that the trees are leafed out it is becoming a challenge to spot any but the most flashy. I'm always lurking behind the window with not much joy. Your little bluebird actually benefits from the flitering--such a soft tone here. The turkey hen has lovely rich feather markings. Hope you spot the babies so you can share.

ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful and like others, we all take pictures through our windows. If we didn't the birds would be gone before we could snap a picture. I love your kind heart, putting extra seed out for your little turkey hen. I do that for my ducks as well. I can tell when they are nesting because they each come alone while the other is on the nest.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your comment on the crows ... they are very territorial and think that any food that they partake in is theirs ... they also don't want hawks around because they have been know to snatch a baby or even an egg. They are doing what they do best ... surviving. But, at the same time, so are the hawks ... one of the more distressing sides of nature. Thanks for commenting on my blog.
