Rurality Blog Hop: Through The Fence - A Newborn

Hubby and I live on five rural acres. When we retired we wanted the quiet and the privacy that country life would give us. While we garden and enjoy the natural wildlife of the birds, the turkey, and the deer that keep us company we don't farm. My husband grew up on a farm and knows the hard work it takes. While we ourselves don't farm there are farms around us. Their close proximity gives us the ocassional pleasure of seeing the newborn calves.
Such was the case this week when we spied this little one beyond the fence. It couldn't have been more than two or three days old asleep in the warm afternoon sunlight.

    i'm glad i don't have to keep cattle here, but get to enjoy those nearby, too - sometimes too close when they get thru the fences. ;)

    Now the barb wire fence reminds me of being on the farm when I was a boy only it was two wires but miserable old poles and rusty wire.

    We have cattle grazing in the field across from our house, and every year or so we get to see a baby. It is always such a thrill for me. Love the photos. genie

    Your rural setting sounds like a great place to retire. Having animals, wild and domestic, around is a huge plus to your location. A fine shot of this newborn taking a nap.
