Snowy Day Visitors

This morning I awoke to about an inch of snow on the ground. A great portion of it has melted away and temps are warming and I can hear the steady drip, drip, drip of the water running off of the roof. The weatherman says we could see some rain this afternoon. As I was looking out the windows a small herd of deer walked along the woods in the backyard. I tried to sneak out the sliding glass doors but they hear every little noise.
I was trying to focus in on the two in the background when one scampered in front of  the lens. I think I counted about ten as they flew off into the woods and out of my camera's lens.
I don't always see them when they come by but it's nice knowing they're there.

I love the look on his face in that first shot.......I am afraid I have more shots from the back end than I do from the front end...They are so aware of their surroundings it's hard to get the shot before they know I am there.....

I usually just see the eaten garden plants in summer, then I know they are there!

What an exciting capture

Looks like the one in the first photo was very aware that you were there.

You did very well to capture them at all, they're very sensitive to noises. Love your last photo, and the quote is so apt.
I would love a little bit of snow, just a little, for a day or two, but the few flurries we got didn't stick :(

Cute shots of the deer, Carletta! It is nice to see them in your yard!

Wow - that first shot is stunning! I really like the last one, too, with them just a little fuzzy - it makes the photo look dreamy. I don't see deer very often - it must be fun to have them visit like that.

I love coming upon some deer, but you are so right, they are so quick and bolt at the slightest sound. They have the sweetest faces, good capture of the one looking back at you.

These are cute pictures of the deer. The one in your first photo must definitely have heard you. Your temperatures must have been warmer than ours -- we had very little melting during the day.

Deer aren't too cooperative when it comes to photos. They are quite a few steps ahead of me.

I looked and looked to try to get some pictures of our deer in the snow --and didn't see them... Your photos are excellent. I love the way the deer STARE at us when we are taking their pictures..

I know how you feel when you see them....we get so excited when we are out on a drive...you'd think we never saw a deer before....but each time, it's a new exhilarating experience! I love the last picture...with the deer in the background.

So cool to get to see a herd of deer in your backyard!

Wow, that must be an amazing sight. Do you leave food out for them? We get the occasional wallaby here in our garden, but they too run off when you want to photograph them. Diane is not too happy with them as they tend to eat her plants.

Fantastic! Like the first one best, great composure and depth of field.

Love the last shot. The colours are so good and framing the shot with trees and a blurred focal point to create intrigue. Apt quote too.

I wonder if I would get anything at all done if I had deer and turkeys that came to my yard. I would be watching for them all the time.
