Look closely and you can see just how close this barn is to the highway. When I took this shot we were stopped in the middle of the road before taking the curve that is just out of sight to the left. On this particular day we were out looking at the fall foliage which was just about at peak. The barn was an added pleasure that day. I really like the patina on the tin roof and that cow path reminds me of being at my Grandparent's house growing up. Have you ever tried walking a cow path? Cows seem like such big lumbering animals but those paths are really very small. I remember trying often to come off a hill down one of those deeply rutted paths. Normally to get from point A to point B we take the straightest path possible. To a cow going from point A to point B is most often a meandering zig-zagging line of travel. Then and now I find it easier to follow my own path. :)

a perfect barn and (almost) perfect setting (except for the close proximity to the highway). the cow lane made me smile. :)
Love that Autumn setting around that barn... Awesome!!!!
Hugs,

awesome find. i love the fall colors - really makes the barn stand out so nicely. ( :
They probably meandered so they could get some lucious green grass off to the left or right. Love this barn!
Hahaha - it's often said that the reason the layout of our roads here in New England are so haphazard is because they are all a bunch of old cow paths. I think it's probably true. Lovely photo - i like the tin roof and the foliage is great!
Hi Carletta,
You'd think they'd fall down walking that narrow of a path! LoL!
The barn is great & so are the fall colors
Thanks a million for joining =)
The leaves are spectacular and the path is an added bonus. Nice!
The cow herd always follows a leader...usually a rather old cow.
This photo is a winner. the setting makes the barn shot that much better.
Love the colors in this one! Great find.
I laughed at Karen's comment about the roads having been cow paths. :)
Lovely colours! ...and a great barn.
That's a beautiful setting among the changing leaves (aside from the closeness of the road).
This is a beautiful image. The cow path makes it just about perfect. Cows know that a straight line isn't always the easiest route.
I was raised on a farm and I remember those crooked cow paths! :) Love the red barn and the beautiful setting.
ohhh this is so pretty! aren't cows cute?! my dogs make little paths too. when we lived in missouri, they had lots of little paths around the yard to their favorite spots ;)
Love that barn... the extra shelter on each side must be a big help to keep things out of the weather... don't we wish it was still fall? Love those colors too...
That is a great barn! and I love the cow path. That was a plus find on your search for fall foliage that day.
what a colorful picture! The cow path made me smile!
Such a beautiful picture! The colors are gorgeous.
Seems like so many barns have been encroached upon by cowpaths getting widened into roads. I think the cowpaths are often like wild animal trails, though...the cows haven't forgotten their wild roots, and zig and zag for protection, probably.
Kinda scary to be that close to the road. The barn IS a bright red, though, and ought to be easy to see...in daylight.
That is a nice shot...especially with the fall colors in the background.
Awww I love cows!! What a beautiful barn!
This is a great rural scene and I like your "framing" very much. Haven't traveled many cow paths--we only had one or two at a time growing up. But, I have a friend who always said she wanted to be in charge of "cow placement." Have you noticed in pastures how they all face in the same direction? Like "you stand, here, you here. . ."
This is an adorable little barn and maybe it was there when this road was dirt, and not so close. I know what you mean by the narrow cow paths always full of little ruts where the rain fell.So difficult to walk.
This really is a perfect barn! Makes me wish I was an artist and could capture it in a painting!
the red barn is a perfect compliment to the fall foliage.
This is a really beautiful shot...cows take the path of least resistance. Can you imagine them going up and down the steep hills as we would go;) When I see one, it takes me back to childhood, too.
