This is my son's neighbor's white picket fence.
This is the fence as seen through my son's basement window.
As we left our son's home last weekend we crossed the Potomac River and I shot through the fence on the bridge. It's a little blurry but the scenery was lovely as I'm sure those kayakers down there would attest too.Linking to Friday's Fences.

I've always thought a picket fence was cheery
I really like the composition of the second one- lovely shape and patterns. The white looks great agains the black and brown too. I wouldn't mind learning to "kayak" one day!
sweet white picket against the brick. :)
Interesting perspectives. I love white picket fences don't you? Pamela
Beautiful drive! Makes leaving the grandkids a little easier!
White picket fences were a classic.
Lovely scenery. I somehow assumed that the Potomac was a far bigger river. Certainly a river with a lot of history attached and heritage listed. Wow!
Far more history attached to the Potomac than any river here in Australia. Seems that the Potomac has for the USA, as much historical importance as the Rubicon in Italy.
Very interesting blog.

I really like your photos of the picket fence.
Nice comparison between two types of fence, one in a yard and one on a bridge. I look for fences EVERYWHERE! :-)
he's got a great view through his basement window. i wish i had such a view mine!
I love picket fences...I think they remind me a small country towns. Hope you had a nice visit with your son!
I love picket fences - would love to have one around my property, but I don't want the work of trimming around it! And since we live in the city...just doesn't seem like a good idea. That view of the river is a nice one - a little rocky for my taste though!
I love the clean and simple lines of a picket fence - I particularly like the basement view!
I like the shot through the fence of the river. To stop blur when in a moving vehicle try setting the camera to "sport" or a very fast shutter speed.
I am such a sucker for a white picket fence...love how you framed the second shot!
Nice looking picket fence & lovin the view over the river! =)
We have a lot of those picket fences here, I like them.also love the river sight
Especially enjoyed the Potomac photo. I usually see it much farther downstream.
Gorgeous fences, Carletta. When I think of white picket fences, I usually think of a beautiful flower garden inside of that yard...
Great photo of the Potomac...
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
I enjoyed those fences Carletta, and the pretty scenery beyond. I've always loved a white picket fence.

I would love to play along the Potomac...very inviting photo.
Nice fences...I love the old timey wooden picket fences. The first one has a nice shadow in it, to. genie
I'm fond of picket fences.
At least your son does not have to stare at a plain blank wall. The fence adds some interesting shadows and angles.
Vinyl fences are relatively novel products that are rapidly gaining in popularity. It purports hassle-free maintenance since it is made up of polyvinyl chloride. It is aesthetically appealing with designs such as post and rail fencing, traditional wood fencing, or decorative iron fencing.
