A Soldier Bug and His Shadow

A few weeks ago I was taking photos at my Moms and laid my lens cap on the porch railing. When I returned to retrieve it this little soldier bug grabbed my attention. I'm not sure if he was standing there singing Me and My Shadow or shadowboxing with himself. This small little critter and his shadow made me smile. I hope he brings a smile to you too!
Posted for Camera Critters and Shadow Shot Sunday.

  8. Whatever he may have been singing, I doubt I could have heard his teensy weensy voice!

    SHADOW SHOW

    Shadows creeping through the land,
    Shadows dark on every hand—
If they should begin to glow,
You had better run, you know!

  10. He certainly looks lethal with his wasp/hornet yellow and black colors. He does seem enthralled with his shadow - I wonder which one won that fight??

  12. This is a thought provoking Shadow Shot. I NeVeR even thought[until now] that a bug could be enjoying his own shadow!! Have a great weekend.

  13. Great shadow and the post definitely makes me smile! -- that's a new bug for me, or at least the name (he looks sort of familiar).

  15. Like your soldier bug. Have never heard of them before, but this one is a very nice specimen. Like the contrast of his small body with the larger black lens cap. It makes for a great shot. genie
