A Wet Snow

On Wednesday we had a heavy wet snow that left us with about three inches. It has been gray skies for the most part of this past week and looks like it will continue for another week according to this evening's weather report. It hasn't been the right conditions for capturing reflections. When I took the above shot I was interested in capturing the snow laden branches. The reflection caught my eye later. It is a subtle reflection but I like the bluish tint to it. The bottom half of the window has a plastic covering for privacy and probably contributed to the bluish tint. That part of the window is reflecting the branches you see while the top part is reflecting a hickory tree that likes to keep a lot of it's dead leaves all winter long.
Hope you're warm where you are!

  1. I love watching the snow pictures on the blogs, yours is lovely as usual! And too, the excitement of it all on TV. I would like to get off an airplane and just play in the snow for two hours. Then I could get back on and come back to my ever green Southeast Texas.

I did like your MidWeek playing with the blues pictures. I probably liked the barn and the little goat better.

My sister Lois got into town from Iowa today and she brought me some pictures of the barn on the old farm of ours. It has been unused for over twenty years but still has lots of character left.

  2. A lovely delicate shot and reflection. I sure am keeping warm it is 90F and very humid. Thank goodness for aircon and I dare not think of the electricity bill.

  4. Nice Carletta but haven't you seen enough snow up your way without taking pictures of it? :) Seriously, I love snow pictures...so serene and peaceful.

  5. Beautiful, Carletta... That is my favorite kind of snow, one that clings to everything. We haven't had a pretty one like that this year yet.. We've had alot of snow--but it's all been that dry stuff which doesn't cling.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  13. This is beautiful. I think the bluish coloring is from the snow reflecting the filtered light that gets through the clouds; I find a lot of shots with a blue cast among those I shoot in winter.

  14. The snow covered branches are great to look out, but it looks so icy cold.

I hope you keep yourself warm with the snow storm in the East.

  15. This is exactly the kind of snow Betsy wishes we would get but haven't so far this year. I think your reflection is great, even if it was an unexpected bonus. I really like this picture.

  16. Beautiful capture, as usual, Carletta. Thanks for your comment and for noticing I've been absent from Blogworld lately. Things are okay. Just been a little down lately...and very busy at work. I really find it hard to find anything to blog about lately. I'm so boring. But I love to read other blogs. Take care!

  18. Lovely, this take on snow fall... The natural shade of grey gives to it really a soft touch.

  19. I'm catching up! We've had great-grandkids visiting (and their mom and grandma). And then we had to take a very long rest ;>)....

This picture is beautiful -- I almost can't believe you got tht wonderful reflection by accident.

I hope you're keeping your toes warm.
