This is my hummingbird feeder ready and waiting for me to add a little food for our summer visitors. Everything has bloomed a little earlier this year and I thought maybe the hummingbirds would show up early too and I wanted to be ready. My Mom thinks she saw one earlier in the week. It did turn cold the past couple of nights so I'll hold off a few days before adding any food but I'm expecting to see my first hummingbird within the next couple of weeks. With the bright sunshine I thought it made a wonderful shadow shot and I even get to emulate Sylvia's wonderfully colored shadows that I've envied for so long. Hope the sunshine is bright where you are. If so, get out and take a walk with your shadow!

Today we had sunshine. I, too, was thinking it's about time to put out my new hummingbird feeder. I need to look up the nectar recipe on the net.
ReplyDeleteThis is just a wonderful shot...who would have thought it would be so nice. You have a good eye.
ReplyDeletewe are blessed with Anna hummers, they are a joy to watch.
ReplyDeleteAnd a fabulous colored shadow shot it is!! I love it! Marvelous color and such a cute little feeder. I do love the hummingbirds! Hope you have a great weekend, Carletta! Thank you for referencing me, how very sweet and thoughtful! Spread the fun!!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
First I hope your knee is doing better my friend. And it's been a while but I hope Lucy and Lily are doing well also :) Love that feeder and the shot it so cool. I remember growing up. My grandparents had a feeder right off their kitchen and it was so neat to watch those little hummingbirds come and feed off of it. Was wonderful. Childhood memories... :)
ReplyDeleteGoodness! When I first looked at it, I thought there were two feeders. Great shadow shot!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, Carletta! I bet the local hummingbirds think so too. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm still awaiting the arrival of the dear lil' creatures too, they just make you smile...as does your beautiful music...have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe shadow is a ruby. the sun strong as it awaits the long billed birds. I never saw such a feeder, yet these are the only birds that can use it, so unlike a 'normal' feeder, the squirrels cannot raid this one!
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty feeder. If it is not a silly question-what do you put in it? Do they eat nectar? So do you give them honey? I would love to see a hummingbird!
ReplyDeleteLovely shot, Carletta. I thought it was a candle-holder!
ReplyDeleteDon't have hummingbirds here in Ireland, so I hope you'll post some shots of one when they appear...pretty please?
i am a fan of Sylvia's coloured glass shadows too and this is a great addition - coincidentally I did a hummingbird feeder a couple of weeks ago. Greetings from mexico
ReplyDeleteHi Carletta, We have one hummingbird feeder out ---but no takers so far. I have more to put out--once I see them...
ReplyDeleteGreat shadow shot!!!! AND I love your feeder.
Hugs,
Betsy
Beautiful feeder, and I love that the shadow is red as well.
ReplyDeleteYour coloured shadow is super! Sylvia must be proud :) Hey it reminds me of an apple! I hope your hummingbird friends visit you shortly. I so wish I had hummingbirds where I lived. They're fascinating creatures! Have a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteI love this. I was just lookimng at my hummingbird feeders yesterday. Too soon here, as it is still a bit cool, but I better get them filled and ready soon!
ReplyDeleteNice stuff.
Pretty feeder! This could double as your Ruby Tuesday entry this week. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like how you took a page from Sylvia's book and found a colored glass shadow. We all learn from each other, I'd say.
Have a great Sunday, I hope your knee is doing better today.
Yeah! A coloured shadow! It's beautiful. It was worth aspiring to. I want to find some now. I hope you take some beautiful shots of your little hummingbirds when they arrive.
ReplyDeletethis is absolutely as good as Sylvia's color shadows and I've been calling her the Queen of Shadow Color for a long time now

ReplyDeleteI love this! What a perfect shadow shot. You were there at the right moment before that shadow moved on!
ReplyDeleteThe feeder make a really cool shadow shot and I love how the red comes through as well.
ReplyDeleteI think I saw a hummingbird the other day but I'm not sure. How's the knee feeling? Better I hope.
What a great feeder. I'm sure we'll be seeing some magnificent hummingbird shots as Spring turns to summer.
ReplyDeleteNifty ruby shadow of your lovely hummingbird feeder ... love the Mr. Limpet yard art in the previous post, Mothman's ruby eyes, the mellow yellow daffodils and delicate oak blossoms too. 'Tis good to be catching up with virtual visits this morning ... finally!
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
