You know, I always thought of them as weeds, but they are just bright little spots of sunshine God gives us. When you really look, they are beautiful...at least I think that when they are blooming. Not crazy about when they go to seed.
Nice shot of a common (I happen to think dandelions are neat looking) weed. Our yard is chock full now. I refuse to spray stuff because I don't mind the yellow flowers and I don't want to hurt the birds and other critters with poison.
They are so nice and pretty and so many people think of them as weeds. Well they do take over a bunch but I think they are cool looking. That's an especially good looking photo my friend :)
They are a NO NO in our yard.... We do everything we can to get rid of them.... I loved them as a child ---but no more!!!! Oh Well.... Sorry about that. Hugs, Betsy
I do not like dandelions. I went through the yard, pulling some up, but I know there are a lot more, one of my neighbors doesn't do anything about dandelions, so I will always have a battle on my lawn.
I love dandelions. I spotted a patch by the side of the road the other day in a busy town centre and they really brightened up the area with their sunny yellow faces!
Beautiful shot. Gives a whole new take on a "weed". It's a pretty flower. Dandelions are great healing plants- the leaves are good in salad, and the milk too can be used in healing remedies. Both parts are really good for your liver. Some weed!
As you don't have an email contact I'll answer here. We were told as kids that if we picked dandelions we would wet the bed. It is a common childhood myth but I looked it up and there is a little truth in it. If you eat dandelions they are a diuretic which means it makes you pass water frequently. This is from the web: Some people remember as kids hearing about the rumor about dandelions. It is stated that if you smell or come in contact with a dandelion that you will pee the bed that night. This is one of the many types of tales that children like to share with each other. This idea is a myth of course. However, just like all myths, there is truth hidden within the fable. Dandelions may not be the cause of wetting the bed, but it is possible for it to be a factor. This stems from the fact that the plant is a diuretic. A diuretic increases the amount of urine that is released by the body. However, in order for you to experience this diuretic property of the dandelion, you would have to do more than simply smelling or coming into contact with it. You would have to digest it. So if you consume a certain quantity of dandelions before going to sleep and stay asleep through the night, you may awaken to find that your bed is now wet. This would then make dandelions a factor of the bed wetting, not the cause.
I just read Diane's comment. I've never heard this about the dandelion but there is another yellow flower I've heard it about. I always touched them just to prove I was brave and I don't remember wetting the bed. lol. They may be weeds but they still are pretty. Nice shot!!
